Gatlins at Sky City Casino Saturday

PUEBLO OF ACOMA — Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers will perform Saturday night at Sky City Casino Hotel following the Colgate Country Showdown.

The showdown begins at 5 p.m., is free and open to the public.

The Gatlin Brothers show begins at 9 p.m., and tickets are required.

Larry Gatlin said the brothers have just come out of the studio recording 12 new songs he has written.

“We are working with Mike Curb of Curb Records to see how we can get Gatlin music on the radio, it's a difficult proposition” he said. “Radio stations only want 25-year-olds, they don't want 59-year-olds, so we are working with Mike on getting radio play.

“Curb Records is one of the world's largest country music companies,” he said.

Another way for the Gatlins to reach fans of country music, and especially the Gatlin version of country music is on the Internet, he said.

“My son and my assistant are in Nashville working on a way to get our music  on the Internet so fans can download the songs they want — both the old and the new stuff,” Gatlin said. “We're a little behind on the technological stuff.”

The Gatlins are on what Larry Gatlin calls “The Gatlin Brothers Never Ending World Tour.”

“We do music, we go out and sing songs and if the people stand up and scream and yell for more, we give them an encore,” he said. “We make music singing together, that's what we do.”.

Tickets are $25 and $15 and may be purchased in advance at the Winner's Circle at Sky City or at the door.

The Gatlins will be performing next week at the Welk Theater in Branson, Mo., and then going on to the Dick Clark's American Bandstand in Branson.

“We will be doing a morning show, from 10 a.m. to noon,”
