GANADO Services for James Steven Centers,
age 70, will be at All Saints Catholic Church Hall in Ganado,
Ariz., at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday June 10, 2008. He will be buried
in Tombstone, Ariz., later in the week.
Centers died Tuesday, June 3, 2008. He was born
Nov. 25, 1937, in Beckley, West Virginia
Centers was a retiree and librarian of Ganado
High School. He attended grade school in West Virginia and junior
high school in Ohio.In 1967 he attended the Universidad de San
Francisco in Guadalajara, Mexico and received his foreign language
certificate. Steve graduated from San Francisco State College
with a Bachelor of Arts in 1970. He continually upgraded his education
in library science, literature and advanced Spanish. He worked
and raised his two children all over the Navajo reservation and
in Casa Grande, Ariz. He was also a foster parent to five children
from 1991-1995. In 1999, he began working as the high school librarian
in Ganado, and also taught advanced Spanish. He was instrumental
in redesigning the High School and middle schools libraries for
and was responsible for many of the grants that the school received.
His hobbies included photography, picture framing, scrap booking,
playing the piano and gardening. He was a passionate reader, a
collector of Native American art and kachinas. He also enjoyed
cooking, traveling, all types of music and spending time with
his grandchildren.
Survivors include his ex-wife Marilyn; his sisters
Imogene Church and Inez Graf; daughters Maria and Kathleen, and
four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents James
Charles and Florence Ethel, and his older brother Chuck (Charles).

GALLUP Services for Mary Ann Tso, 61,
will be May 23.
Tso died May 19, 2008 in Gallup. She was born
Jan. 26, 1947.
