Erwin Begaye
TOLLHOUSE, Calif. Funeral services
for Erwin Manuel Begaye Mono, 42, will be 9 a.m. July
5, at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Church. Rev. Mister Micheal Sullivan
will officiate. Burial will be in Jones Ranch, family land. Visitation
will be at 9 a.m. July 5, at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Church.
Begaye died June 28, 2008, in Clovis,
Calif. He was born Sept. 12, 1965, in Ganado, into the Start of
the Red Streak People Clan for the Black Streak Wood People Clan.
Begaye attended and graduated from Gallup
High in 1985 and SIPI in 1984. He was employed with Sierra Engineering
for 21 years. His favorite hobbies were basketball, baseball,
football and most of all giving people a hard time.
Survivors include his sons, Gavin and
Aaron Begaye, both of Tollhouse; parents, Lena J. Begaye of Gallup,
Manuel E. Begaye of Jones Ranch; brothers, Edwin Begaye of Gallup,
Marwin
Begaye of Norman, Ok.; sister, Edwina
Hunter of Tollhouse; grandmother, Helen Winney of Chinle; one
grandchild.
Begaye was preceded in death by Ervin M. Begaye, Charlie and Mary
H. Begaye, Dale Winney.
Pallbearers will be Joe Lockheart, Dani
Martinez, Derrick Chavez, Manuel Begaye, Monty Tilden, Eric Bedonie.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Jones Ranch/Chilchitah
Chapter House, following services.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Rose Clark
KLAGETOH Services for Rose B. Clark,
92, will be 10 a.m. July 5, at the St. Annes Catholic Church.
The Rev. Flann ONeil, OFM, will officiate. Burial will be
in Community Cemetery, Klagetoh. Visitation will be at 9 a.m.,
one hour prior to services.
Clark died June 30, 2008, in Fort Defiance.
She was born Nov. 2, 1916, in Sunrise Springs, into the Cliff
Dwelling People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.
In Clarks early years, she attended
St. Micheals Indian Mission School. She was a rancher and rug
weaver.
Survivors include her daughters, Alice Clark, Rosine Begay, both
of Steamboat; brother, Joe Begay of Klagetoh; sisters, Stella
Yazzie of Greasewood Springs, Betty Dallas of Tuba City, Rita
Yazzie of Klagetoh; 17 grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.
Clark was preceded in death by her husband,
Jeffrey Clark Sr.; sons, Jeffrey Clark Jr., David Clark; parents,
Raymond and Mary Begay; brothers, Ben Tsosie, Roy Anderson, Ben
Ambrose, Henry Begay, Harry Begay.
Pallbearers will be family members.
Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of
arrangements.
Ruth Shirley
CORNFIELDS Services for Ruth Ann
Shirley, 73, will be 10 a.m. July 5, at the All Saints Mission,
Ganado. The Rev. John Hotstream SC, will officiate. Burial will
be in Community Cemetery, Cornfields. Visitation will be 9 a.m.,
prior to service.
Shirley died June 30, 2008, in Flagstaff.
She was born Sept. 5, 1934, in Ganado, into the Tangle People
Clan for the Towering House People Clan.
Shirley attended Cornfield Day School,
and worked at Riverside, California for three years, as a Ganado
Nurse Aide for four years, at the Gallup Ramada Inn for seven
years, Ganado Sage Memorial Hospital for 23 years before she retired.
She was a rug weaver and a sheepherder. Shirley enjoyed attending
the Native American Church, and working. She helped people through
out the reservation.
Survivors include her sons, Fred Shirley
of Cornfieds, Jerome Shirley of Zuni; daughters, Evelyn Meyer,
Alta Shay-Hale, Marjorie Bia-Hale, all of Cornfields, Juanita
Clark of Ganado; sister, Theresa Williams of Cornfields; 23 grandchildren;
25 great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her mother,
Alice Kee, brothers, Tom J. Kee, Paul K. Begay, Alvin Begay, Frank
Begay, Tsosie Kee.
Pallbearers will be family members.
Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of
arrangements.
