FLAGSTAFF Funeral services for Jacob
Jake Anthony Slayton, 10, will be 10 a.m., July 11,
at the St. Pius X Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited 7
p.m. July 10, at the St. Pius X Catholic Church.
Slayton died July 5, 2008 in the White Mountains.
He born Dec. 20, 1997 in Flagstaff.
Slayton was the youngest of three children.
He was a student at Thomas Elementary School where he had just
completed the 4th grade. It was his most successful school year
and he was proud to be a Thomas Tiger. Slayton was
happiest while playing baseball and had just finished playing
for the 9-10 year olds Mount Elden Little All-stars.
Survivors include his father, Anthony Slayton;
mother, Kathleen Slayton; sister, Audrey Wall; brother, David
Slayton.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
the Jacob Slayton Mount Elden Little League Scholarship Fund at
any Wells Fargo Branch.
REHOBOTH Funeral services for Robert
(Willie) Williams, 61, will be 10 a.m. July 10, at the Rehoboth
Christian Reform, Gallup. Bobby Boyd will officiate. Burial will
be in Rehoboth Cemetery.
Williams died July 4, 2008, in Albuquerque.
He was born Dec. 26, 1946, in Rehoboth, into the Tangle People
Clan for the Meadow People Clan.
Williams attended school at the Intermountain
Indian School. He worked for the Union Pacific Rail Road, the
Internal Smelter Company (Tovela, Utah), and was a horse trainer,
and carpenter; he loved to build houses.
Survivors include his sons, Johnny Williams,
Shawn Williams, both of Iyanbito, Ronnie Williams of Rock Springs;
daughters, Armeda Williams, Kristen Williams of Iyanbito; parents,
Julia Begay, John Willie; brothers, Leonard Willie, Albert Willie,
James Willie, all of Rehoboth, Charlie Johnson of Mentmore; sisters,
Jessie Coho of Churchrock, Cecelia Miles, Rita Lee of Rehoboth,
Marie Rumsey of Gallup, Julie Emerson of Rehoboth, Elouise Smith
of Sundance; grandparents, Nelly Johnson, Francis Padilla; 12
grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Williams was preceded in death by Bessie Johnson,
Pete Williams, Wilbert Williams, Wilson Willie, Elsie Willie.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Williams, Quentin
Larry, Patrick Williams, Leonard Willie, Albert Willie, Shawn
Steven.
The family will receive relatives and friends
at Churchrock Chapter, following services.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
