Police checkpoints

GALLUP — Police Department conducting several DWI-related operations starting Aug. 8 through Aug.10. The checkpoints will range from saturation patrols to checkpoints. Questions contact Sgt. Erin Toadlena-Pablo at 505-863-1347.

Jump Start

CROWNPOINT — Principal John Bryant confirmed Crownpoint Middle School’s plan to have a “Jump Start Day” for 5th graders, Friday, Aug. 8. Fifth graders will attend class from 7:50 to 11:30 a.m., on that day. Buses will run; however, lunch will not be served. Schedules will be available for those students who are pre-registered. Additionally, “Meet the Teacher Day” will be 2-6 p.m. A “State of the School” presentation will be at 6 p.m. The community is invited.

Jump Start

GALLUP — This is an opportunity to meet teachers, learn more about life at Gallup High, and get geared up for another school year. All incoming 9th and 10th graders encouraged to attend 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Aug. 8, at the Gallup High School. The program will begin at the auditorium. Normal bus routes are scheduled for the day.

Counselor Visit

FLAGSTAFF — A Veterans Counselor visit is Aug. 8, 8:30-11:30 a.m., at Fort Defiance Navajo Veterans Office and 1-3:30 p.m., at Dilkon Chapter House. Helping veterans and their dependents with information about veteran’s benefits and assistance in filing claim.Claimant should bring pertinent info pertaining to subject of the visit especially all VA correspondences, DD-214, medical records, marriage license, divorce decree, death certificate, birth certificate, all income award letters, medical expenses, s.s.cards. Times are on MST, not DST.

Walk/Health Fair

WINDOW ROCK — Breastfeeding Walk and Health Fair will be Aug. 8. The walk begins at Bashas’ parking lot, Window Rock. Registration from 7:30-8:15 a.m. Walk begins at 8:30 a.m. and there is a health fair from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. at the ’ parking lot. Participants will receive a free gift. More info call 928-729-4011.
