Freddie Jim

RED ROCK — Funeral services for Freddie Nelson Jim, 88, will be 9 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Cope Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Terry Gooden will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery.

Jim died Aug. 5, 2008, in Gallup. He was born March 22, 1920, in Mentmore, into the Towering House People Clan for the Black Streak Forrest People Clan.

Jim was educated traditionally. He was employed with the railroad, and was a coal miner, he worked in forestry,and construction, for the Hamilton Brothers. He was a skilled carpenter, and was a member of the Native American Church. He enjoyed numerous activities with family.

Survivors include his sons, Lee Jim, Leroy Jim, Harrison Jim, Leonard Jim Sr., Kee Billie; daughters, Rosie Blackgoat, Marie Jim, Clara Johnson, Helena Jim, Rosalie Jim; sisters, Marie Lee, Mary Brown; 53 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Spencer Jim; one grandson; brothers, Andy Nelson, Nelson Jim, Ashley White.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Spencer, Dustin Nalwood, Lemanuel Jim, Kelvin Blackgoat, Adrain Jim, Elverett Blackgoat.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Leo Jones

ROCK SPRINGS — Funeral services for Leo Tom Jones, 40, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 9, at Rollie Mortuary. The Rev. Dennis Gardner will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery. Visitation was 10 a.m., today, Aug. 8, at Rollie Mortuary. A rosary will be recited at Rollie Mortuary.

Jones died Aug. 2, 2008, in Tohlakai. He was born July 18, 1968, in Gallup, into the Black Streak of the Forest People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Jones attended Tohatchi Elementary, Wingate High School. He worked at American Metals in Gallup. He also worked at various stores, jewelry stores, mostly in Gallup. His hobbies included helping people, working outdoors, repairing vehicles. Jones liked to go to country western dances.

Survivors include his wife, Matilda Yazzie; parents, Tom and Sarah Jones; brothers, Alvin, Uland Jones; sisters, Louise Shorty, Anita Williams, Fannie Allison, Jeanita Shorty, Priscilla Jones, Barbara Jones;

Jones was preceded in death by his sister, Sally A. Miller.

Pallbearers will be Jeffery Miller, Farrell Brown, Peter Long, Irwin Yazzie, Delvin Yazzie, Eric Shack.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Rock Springs Chapter House at 5 p.m. The family will meet at Tom and Sarah Jones residence, at 5 p.m.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Lilley Smiley

CROWNPOINT — Funeral services are pending for Lilley Smiley, 70.

Smiley died Aug. 6, 2008, in Albuquerque. She was born Oct. 13, 1937, in Crownpoint, into the Water Flows Together People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

A family meeting will be 6 p.m., tonight, Aug. 8, at the Crownpoint Chapter House.
