3 plead guilty to DWI
Judge suspends sentences,
requires them to attend DWI school

GRANTS — In Cibola County Magistrate Court, three defendants pleaded guilty to DWI as part of plea agreements between the 13th judicial District Attorney’s Office and public defender attorneys.

All were ordered by the court to attend DWI school and place ignition interlocks on any vehicle they are planning to drive.

All were ordered by the court to perform community service.

Marcos Prieto, 23, of 1305 Encino, Grants, pleaded guilty to DWI, pleaded down from aggravated DWI (refused test, second offense) and having no driver’s license. Sentenced to Cibola County Detention Center for 90 days with 90 days suspended and credit for two days time served. Court ordered supervised probation for 180 days; complete alcohol screening; register for DWI school; install ignition interlock device on any vehicle to be operated; no bars, no drugs or driving without a license; provide court with documentation of all conditions; and complete 24 hours of community service. Total fines and fees $820 with $550 suspended and $104 credit for time served.

Ivan Williams, 28, of a post office box in Bluewater, pleaded guilty to DWI, pleaded down from aggravated DWI (over .16, second offense). Sentenced to Cibola County Detention Center for 90 days with 90 days suspended and credit for no days time served. Court ordered supervised probation for 180 days; complete alcohol screening; register for DWI school; install ignition interlock device on any vehicle to be operated; no bars, no drugs or driving without a license; provide court with documentation of all conditions; and complete 24 hours of community service. Total fines and fees $750 with $500 suspended and $0 credit for time served.

Cody Jake, 18, of a post office box in Prewitt, pleaded guilty to aggravated DWI, (over .16, second offense), pleaded down from aggravated DWI (refused test, third offense). Sentenced to Cibola County Detention Center for 364 days with 356 days suspended and credit for 12 days time served. The defendant shall serve a remaining balance of eight days in jail. Court ordered supervised probation for 364 days; complete alcohol screening; register for DWI school; install ignition interlock device on any vehicle to be operated; no bars, no drugs or driving without a license; provide court with documentation of all conditions; and complete 48 hours of community service. Total fines and fees $1,215 with $500 suspended and $624 credit for time served.

William Arnold, 33, of 733 Truman, Grants, pleaded guilty to DWI, pleaded down from aggravated DWI (refused test). Sentenced to Cibola County Detention Center for 90 days with 90 days suspended and credit for 40 days time served. Court ordered supervised probation for 180 days; complete alcohol screening; register for DWI school; install ignition interlock device on any vehicle to be operated; no bars, no drugs or driving without a license; provide court with documentation of all conditions; and complete 24 hours of community service. Total fines and fees $715 with $500 suspended and $215 credit for time served.
