Checkpoint

FARMINGTON — New Mexico State Police will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint on Aug. 29, within the San Juan County. Designed to apprehend drunk drivers and make the highways safer. Questions call Sergeant Albert Montoya.

Used Book Sale

GALLUP — The First United Methodist Church used book sale, Aug. 29-Sept. 14. Donations of books, puzzles, games, CDs, DVDs, videos, and more are welcome before and during the sale. Volunteers needed for set-up, sales, and packing. Volunteers get first pick. GHS Reunion

GALLUP — The class of 1948 of Gallup High School 60th anniversary reunion the first weekend in October. Indications show that about thirty percent of the graduating class will attend. The planning committee is made up of two members from Gallup, one from Oxnard, Calif., one from Glendale, Calif. A local restaurant is the setting for the dinner on Saturday night. Committee members will continue to make contact with other graduates of this class throughout the country. The Saturday night function will feature the great music and bands of the forties and fifties.
