GALLUP — Two men staying in the Thunderbird Motel, Room 147, early Monday morning received a visit from an apparent phantom.

According to Gallup Police Officer Harland Sosseeah’s report, a white woman knocked on the motel room door well after midnight, and said she was looking to party. The men said the woman then took her clothes off and said she was theirs for the night, granted she could have a place to stay.

But soon a white male entered the room wielding one silver and one black handgun, one of which he used to fire two rounds at one of the men, missing both times. By the time police were called to the scene, around 2:30 a.m., the naked woman and the armed man were gone, as was a wallet belonging to one of the men. One man said the mysterious couple left in a white car; the other said they left in a white truck.

Sosseeah reports finding only one bullet hole — in the south wall, near the bathroom — and that both men exhibited slurred speech, swollen eyes and a strong odor of liquor.

Neither man was charged with any crime, although one was taken to NCI, the other left in the room, which was registered under his name.
