Shawn Michael Perry to play in downtown Gallup Copyright © 2008 GALLUP Singer-songwriter-actor-educator Shawn Michael Perry is scheduled to be in Gallup Saturday afternoon at the Quintanos Music and in the evening at Coal Street Pub. Born in Southern California into indigenous heritage his father is Native American of Salish ancestry and his mother is Panamanian of Mayan ancestry Perry has embraced his culture past and present with an eye to the future. Perry first came to the publics attention through his acting skills. He has appeared in the films The Last of the Mohicans and Hidalgo, and on television on such productions as My Indian Summer and Murder She Wrote. His stage credits include the highly-acclaimed production of Ghost Dance at Los Angeles Actors Gang Studio. Perrys musical ambitions led him to the studio with a collection of songs highlighting the human experience as seen through indigenous eyes. The songs Freedom and Libertad have received airplay and are featured on the new full-length CD, Shawn Michael Perry & Only the Brave.
