Johanna Barney
SUNDANCE COAL MINE Funeral services for Johanna J. Barney,
74, will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Cope Memorial Chapel.
Derrick Godding will officiate. Burial will be in the Gallup City
Cemetery.
Barney died Nov. 6, 2008, in Gallup. She was born June 7, 1934,
in Gallup, into the Towering House People Clan for the Waters
Edge People Clan.
Barney was a homemaker and was involved with the community and
liked to weave. She was a traditional rug weaver using storm patterns.
She worked in hotels and restaurants most of her life. Barney
was a member of Church Rock Chapter.
Survivors include her sons, Raymond Jim of Kirtland, Albert Jim
of Sundance, Ernest Jim of Sundance, Michael Barney of Kirtland;
daughters, Marita Padilla of Lake Valley, Marie Cowboy of Tucson,
Emma Jim of Sundance, Lorraine Jim of Churchrock; brother, Paul
Johnson of Twin Buttes; sisters, Mary Nolcott of Sundance, Annie
Yazzie of Sundance; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
Barney was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy Johnson and
Ahanabah Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Albert Jim, Raymond Jim, Ernest Jim, Michael
Barney, Shawn Jim and Colin Manuelito.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Sundance home,
following services.

Dan Martine
RAMAH Memorial Mass for Dan Kay Martine, 81, will be 10
a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 12, at St. Marys Catholic Church,
307 N. Church in Bloomfield. Military honors will be provided
by VFW Post 2182. A memorial service will be 10 a.m., Monday,
Nov. 17, at Ramah Navajo Nazareen Church, Ramah. Intermet will
follow at the family cemetery, Ramah.
Martine died Nov. 7, 2008. He was born Nov. 17, 1926, in Ramah.
Martine was born to Kay Chee and Yazhie (Bah Pino) Martine. He
proudly served during WWII in the US Army.

Saraphine Leonard
ROUND ROCK Funeral services for Saraphine Leonard, 33,
will be 10 a.m., Nov. 12, at St. Isabel Catholic Church, Lukachukai.
Burial will be in Lukachukai Community Cemetery. Visitation will
be 9 a.m., one hour prior to service.
Leonard died Nov. 4, 2008, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born
Aug. 4, 1975, in Fort Defiance, into the Edge Water People Clan
for the Coyote Pass People Clan.
Leonard attended LSD school in Phoenix, Navajo Elementary School,
Navajo, and High School in Salt Lake City. She worked for the
Senior Center in Denver, Colo., and Road Construction worker as
a flagger for 8 years in Salt Lake City.
Survivors include her son, Sheldon Leonard of Salt Lake City,
Utah; mother, Betty Benioh of Salt Lake City; brothers, Kevin
Begay of Lukachukai, Davey Leonard, Michael Leonard, both of Salt
Lake City; sisters, Leonara Leonard of Salt Lake City; grandmother,
Ada Yazzie of Round Rock.
Leonard was preceded in death by her father, David Leonard; brother,
Kirk Harvey; grandfather, James Yazzie.
Pallbearers will be Myron McCabe, Cecil Yazzie, Charles Yazzie,
Archie Begay, Kevin Begay, Marcus McCabe.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Ada Yazzies
residence, following services. The family will meet 6 p.m., every
evening in Round Rock.

Laura Richards
GALLUP Services are pending for Laura Jo Richards, 56.
Richards died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, in Gallup. She was born Aug.
29, 1952, in Gallup.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 12.
A rosary will be recited 7 p.m., Nov. 12.

Donald Watchman
HAYSTACK Funeral services are pending for Donald Watchman,
43.
Watchman died Nov. 8, 2008, in Albuquerque. He was born Jan.
7, 1965, in Fort Defiance.
A family gathering will 6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Fort
Defiance Chapter.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
