Lucy Jim

CROWNPOINT — Funeral services for Lucy Bigboy Jim, 65, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the New Life Ministry, Crownpoint. Pastor Bobby Arviso will officiate. Burial will be in Crownpoint Community Cemetery.

Jim died Feb. 5, 2008, in Crownpoint. She was born March 15, 1922, into the Red Bottom People Clan for the Zuni People Clan.

Jim participated in senior center activities at Standing Rock and Crownpoint. She did beadwork, crocheting, sewing of traditional clothes, and rug weaving.

Survivors include her sisters, Anna Shorty of Becenti, and the Ellsworth family.

Jim was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Jim; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hoska Nah Ha Goth Bigboy.

Pallbearers will be family members.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Crownpoint Chapter House, following services.


Rosita Norton

FORT WINGATE — Funeral services for Rosita G. Norton, 51, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup. Nathan Lynch will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery.

Norton died Feb. 5, 2008, in Albuquerque. She was born April 5, 1956, in Gallup into the Red Streak People Clan for the Mountain Cove People Clan.

Norton had her Associate Degree from SIPI in clerical administrative, was a secretary at Wingate Mid School and the last 20 years with Mountain High Program, in Fort Wingate. Her hobbies include hiking, camping, river rafting, reading, and evening walks.

Survivors include her daughters, Vanessa Martin, Samantha Martin; brothers, Larry Brown, Gilbert Brown, Phillip Wright; sisters, Arlinda Kayanna, Virginia Tso, Louise Rose Brown, Rose Mary Martin; five grandchildren.

Norton was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Lucy Brown, Donna Jean Tabaha, Sam and Annie B. Begay.

Pallbearers will be Larry Brown, David Sever, Shawn Livingston, Ross Anderson, Brandon Largo, and Richard Leonard.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.


Adrian Shirley

PINEDALE — Funeral services for Adrian Lee Shirley, 40, will be 10 a.m. Feb. 9, at the Rollie Mortuary. Evang. Jay Arviso will officiate. Burial will be in family land, Pinedale.

Shirley died Feb. 3, 2008, in Albuquerque. He was born Dec. 25, 1967, in Gallup, into the Mountain Cove People Clan for the Salt Water People Clan.

Shirley was self employed. He loved to ride horses and spend time with family members.

Survivors include his common-law wife, Marlene J. Scott of Pueblo Pintado; sons, Aldric Lee Shirley of Bloomfield, Alex Lee Shirley of Pinedale, Aaron Lee Shirley of Pinedale, Alfred Lee Shirley of Bloomfield; daughter, Adriann Lee Shirley of Pinedale; brothers, Amos Dean Shirley of Pinedale, Lorenzo Davis of Crownpoint; sisters, Elrose E. Davis, Corina Davis, both of Pinedale.

Shirley was preceded in death by his grandmother, Alka-Bah Yazzie; parents, Alfred Dean Shirley, Marie Y. Davis.

Pallbearers will be Lorenzo Davis, Everette Sherman, Fernando Sherman, Kirby Sherman, Shaniel Largo, and Ervin Martin.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Pinedale Chapter, following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Dorothy J. Joe

HOUCK — Service for Dorothy J. Joe, 75, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 9, at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be in Houck Community Cemetery, Houck. Visitation will be during mass.

Joe died Feb. 3, 2008, in Flagstaff. She was born Nov. 6, 1932, in Houck, into the Water People Clan for the Red Running Into the Water People Clan.

Joe worked in Los Angeles, and in Flagstaff. She enjoyed rug weaving, bead work, knitting, silversmithing, crystal gazing, gathering herbs, medicine, and was a medicine woman, and a NAC member.

Survivors include her husband, Homer Joe; sons, Harrison Largo Sr., Chester Largo, Isaac Yazzie, Harold Largo, Melvin Joe, Christopher Joe, of Houck; daughters, Gloria Begay of Tuba City, Ann Bitsuie of Houck, Pearl Mitchell of Henderson, Nev., Lavern Bahe of Rock Springs, Marlene Largo, Juanita Gibson, Kristy Joe, of Houck; brother, Patrick Murphy; 25 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by her father, Isaac James, mother, Marie Murphy; brothers, Yazzie James, Teddy James, Albert Murphy, Tony S. Murphy, Henry Murphy; sisters, Margaret Murphy, Lucy Thompson, Winifred James, Mary Largo.

Pallbearers will be Christopher L. Joe, Harrison Largo Sr., Isaac Yazzie and Mercury Bitsuie.

The family received relatives and friends at Houck Community Chapter House, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m.

Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Tom Wilson

TSEYATOH — Funeral services are pending for Tom Wilson, 77.

Wilson died Feb. 6, 2008, in Gallup. He was born Aug. 19, 1930, in Mentmore.

A gathering will be 5 p.m. tonight, at the Tseyatoh Chapter. All friends and relatives are encouraged to attend.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.
