Rachel Griego

GALLUP – Services for Rachel B. Griego, 85, will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Gallup. Father Antonio Gutierrez will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

A Rosary will be recited today, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m., at St. Francis of Assisi Church.

Griego died Feb. 9, 2008 in Gallup, She was born on April 5, 1922 in Gallup.

Survivors include her sons Joseph G. Baca of Gallup, Narciso Baca of Gallup, Tommy Griego of Arvada, Colo.; stepson Mark Griego of Albuquerque; sister Mela Martinez of Winslow; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Narciso Baca, second husband, Adelino Griego; parents, Constancio Candelaria and Juanita Garcia Candelaria; daughter Beatrice Leba and one great-granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Brandon DeWeese, Joseph A. Baca Jr., Andrew Baca, Aaron Baca, Mark Griego, Rodney Eruggernan, Narciso Baca III, Narciso Baca IV.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Procopio Castillo

GRANTS – Services for Procopio Bernardino Castillo, 73, will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008 at Compassion Mortuary. Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 13 from 2-6 p.m., will a Rosary following at 7 p.m. at Compassion Mortuary.

Procopio died Feb. 11, 2008 in Grants. He was born Dec. 12, 1934 in San Rafael. He was retired from the City of Grants Fire Department and was a veteran of the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War, and served with the U.S. Army for 20 years.

Survivors include his wife Hannelore Castillo of Grants; son, Larry Castillo of Albuquerque; brothers, David Castillo of Grants;, Andy Castillo of Texas, Paul Castillo of San Rafael, Carlos Castillo of San Rafael; sisters, Jennie Barajas of San Rafael, Susie Harris of San Jose, Angelina Ramirez of San Rafael, Rose Castillo of Grants.

Castillo was preceded in death by his father, Perfilio Castillo; mother, Rita Castillo; sister, Clara Barajas; brother, Nestor Castillo.


Ethel James-Arviso

HUNTERS POINT — Funeral services for Ethel C. Bitloy James-Arviso, 93, will be 9 a.m., Feb. 13, at the Mary Mother of Mankind Catholic Church, St. Michaels. Father Gilbert Schneider will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michaels Community Cemetery, St. Michaels.

Arviso died Feb. 9, 2008, in Gallup. She was born Jan. 17, 1915, in Hunterspoint, Ariz., into the One Who Walks Around People Clan for the Edge Water People Clan.

Arviso graduated from St. Michaels Mission Church. She was employed with Chinle Extended Care as a nurse.

Survivors include her sons, George D. Arviso, Harold Arviso; daughter, Alberta Quail; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Arviso was preceded in death by her parents, Hosteen Bitloy, Ason Yazzie; brothers, Jerome Mike, Notah Sam, Noel Bitloy, Dominic Bitloy; sisters, Jessie Yazzie, Maggie King; sister, Martha King.

Pallbearers will be Harold Arviso, Cedric Williams, Marco Arviso, Aaron Ross, Aaron Ross, Elton Quail, and Eric Ross.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Parrish Hall near St. Michaels Church, following services. The family will meet today at St. Michaels Chapter House, at 6 p.m.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.


Madeline Tso

TWIN LAKES — Funeral services for Madeline Begay Tso, 88, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Rollie Palm Chapel, Gallup. Rev. Dennis Gardner will officiate. Burial will be in family land, Twin Lakes.

Tso died Feb. 10, 2008, in Gallup. She was born Sept. 19, 1919, in Twin Lakes, into the Water’s Edge People Clan for the Mexican People Clan.

Tso was a homemaker, rug weaver, loved cooking, sewing, tending to her livestock, doing puzzles, and she was involved in social activities.

Survivors include her sons, Amos Tso of Crownpoint, James Tso of Twin Lakes; daughters, Darlene Kenneth of Twin Lakes, Joan Nez of Twin Lakes, Geraldine Tso of Twin Lakes; sister, Helen Boyd of Twin Lakes; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.

Tso was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Tso; daughter, Mildred Manuelito; granddaughter, Skye Whitecalf.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Manuelito Jr., Walter Manuelito, Myles Weaver, Virgil Tso Jr., Alex Begay, and David McLaughlin Sr.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Twin Lakes Chapter House, following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Tom Wilson

GALLUP – Services for Tom Wilson, 77, will be 10 a.m., today, Feb. 12 at Cope Memorial Chapel. Ted Farris will officiate. Burial will follow at Gallup City Cemetery.

Wilson died Feb. 6, 2008 in Gallup. He was born Aug. 19, 1930 in Tseyatoh into the Black Streak of the Forest People Clan for the Water Edge People Clan.

Wilson was a lifelong resident of Tseyatoh and was a contractor. He liked to work around the house and he was a roadman for the Native American Church.

Survivors include his sons, Norman Wilson, Russell Wilson and Fernando Wilson, all of Tseyatoh; daughters Nancy Wilson, Antoinette Wilson, Selena Wilson, all of Tseyatoh, Rolena Wilson of Cochiti Lake, N.M., Annabelle Wilson of Mentmore, N.M.; 24 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helena Wilson.

Pallbearers will be Lyndon Prince, Virgil Hale Jr., Travis Tom, Monroe McCray, Freddie Wilson, Adrian Dennison.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Tseyatoh Multi-Purpose Building following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.


Ray Eldridge

SHEEP SPRINGS – Services for Ray Eldridge, 38, will be announced at a later date.

Eldridge died Feb. 6, 2008 in Gallup. He was born April 6, 1969 in Gallup into the Towering House People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.

Visitation will be today, Feb. 12, 2008 from 2-4 p.m., at Rollie Mortuary.

Theresa Joe

CHINA SPRINGS, N.M. – Services for Theresa Joe, 61, will be announced at a later date.

Joe died Feb. 9, 2008 in Flagstaff. She was born May 3, 1946 into the Meadow People Clan for the Red Running Into the Water People Clan.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Jay Kelsey

REHOBOTH — Services are pending for Jay John Kelsey, 66.

Kelsey died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, in Flagstaff. He was born Nov. 20, 1941, in Fort Wingate, into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
