Willard Yellowhair

WINDOW ROCK — Services for Willard Arthur Yellowhair, 47, were 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the Community Bible Church, Tse Bonito. Pastor David Hilderman and Nelson Betony officiated. Burial was in Community Cemetery, St. Michaels.

Yellowhair died Feb. 14, 2008, in Fort Defiance. He was born Aug. 29, 1960, in Fort Defiance, into the Red Running Into the Water People Clan for the Zuni People Clan.

Yellowhair graduated from Window Rock High School in 1980 and in 1981, received a welding certificate from Crownpoint Skill Center. He was accepted into the apprenticeship program for plumbing and pipe fitting trade school in Phoenix. At the time of his death, he was a member of the United Association of Local 469 as a journeyman pipefitter and welder.

Survivors included his sons, Shane, Sean, Christopher, Kody Yellowhair, Derrick Everette, Andy Lynch, all of Window Rock; daughters, Keeka, Kimmie Yellowhorse, both of Window Rock; parents, Skeet and Shirley Yellowhair, of Window Rock; brothers, Edward Yellowhair of Fort Bragg, N.C., Kem Yellowhair, of Casa Grande, Skeet Yellowhair Jr. of Canoncito, Stephen Yellowhair of Window Rock; sisters, Leann Yellowhair of Window Rock, Rochell Yellowhair-Rico of Twin Lakes.

Yellowhair was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta McLemore; brother, Steed Yellowhair; grandparents, Arthur Nez Sr., Esther Nez.

Pallbearers were Shane Yellowhair, Sean Yellowhair, Kem Yellowhair, Edward Yellowhair, Skeet Yellowhair Jr. and Frankie Hoskie.

The family received relatives and friends at St. Michaels Chapter House, following services.

Silver Creek Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.


Pauline Gordon

HOUCK — Funeral services for Pauline Spean Gordon, 45, wer 10 a.m. Feb. 21, 2008, at the Good News Church, Houck. Pastor Milt Shirleson officiated. Burial was in Community Cemetery, Houck.

Gordon died Feb. 15, 2008, in Gallup. She was born July 6, 1962, in Houck, into the Towering House People Clan for the Black Streak Forest People Clan.

Gordon attended school in Sanders and Flagstaff. She was a homemaker, sales clerk, and housekeeper. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, Indian craft work, and being with her grandchildren. She loved to upgrade or do handiwork around her house, and attend Good News Church.

Survivors included her husband, Gilbert Gordon; sons, Kurt Spean, Myron Gordon, Mario Gordon, Jared Gordon, Nathan Gordon, all of Salt Lake City, Ut.; daughters, Rised Melinda Spean-Austin of Houck; brothers, Rexson Spean of Phoenix, Wayne Spean, Anthony Spean of Houck; sisters, Alice Tom of Phoenix, Clara Spean-Begaye of Salt Lake City, Arlene Spean of Houck; five grandchildren.

Gordon was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Ceceila Spean; brother, Alexander Spean; grandparents, Tom and Margaret Joe, Navajo and Emma Spean.

Pallbearers were Gilbert Gordon, Kurt Spean, Myron Gordon, Mario Gordon, and Nathan Gordon.

The family received relatives and friends at Houck Chapter, following services. Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.
