Lee Chavez

THOREAU — Funeral services for Lee Chavez, 80, will be 10 a.m. Feb. 26, at the Thoreau Church of God, Thoreau. Ray and Florence Barker will officiate. Burial will be in Thoreau Community Cemetery.

Chavez died Feb. 20, 2008, in Grants. He was born July 26, 1927, in Thoreau, into the Sleeping Rock People Clan for the Two Who Came to the Water People Clan.

Chavez worked as a rancher. He was also employed with Santa Fe Railroad for 9 years. His hobbies included playing cards, raising and breeding livestock, enjoyed spending time with friends and relatives.

Survivors include his brothers, Sammy Yazzie of Holbrook, Jimmy Yazzie of Thoreau; sisters, Lucy Saunders of Thoreau, Anna Y. Becenti of Thoreau, Betty Tom of Thoreau, Christine Platero of Thoreau, Alice Enditto of Thoreau.

Chavez was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Yazzie; father, Frank Peralto; brothers, John Chavez, Phillip Yazzie, Lou J. Yazzie, Wally Yazzie, Alfred Chavez, Danny Chavez.

Pallbearers will be Danny Tom, Earl Enditto, Lance Williams, Jason Yazzie, Brian Enditto, and Paul Enditto.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Thoreau Chapter House, following services.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.


Tara Woodman

KLAGETOH — Services for Tara Lynn Woodman, 21, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Klagetoh Shelter Mission. Bishop Jerry DuBois will officiate. Burial will be in Klagetoh Community Cemetery.

Woodman was born April 1, 1986, in Chinle, into the Black Streak Forest People Clan for the Big Water People Clan.

Woodman was a student, and published 3 poems (Man of my dreams; Hidden Pain; and Morning Sun Rise). She was a runner, Wide Ruins Princess, and runner-up Ms. VHS. Woodman was active in VHS sports activities.

Survivors include her parents, Geraldine Jim and Cecil Jim; brother, Jercelo Jim; sisters, Hawia Lasiloo, Kara Woodman; Cedra Jim, Gero Lynn Jim, Maurise Windy Jim, Mylane Stormy Jim, Jerorena D. Woodman, Danelle Woodman; grandparents, Bahe Woodman, Yazzie Slim JIm.

Woodman was preceded in death by her brother, Cedric Jim; grandmother, Mabel Woodman.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Klagetoh Chapter House, 6 p.m. Feb. 26.

Herman Parker

GALLUP — Funeral services for Herman Parker, 65, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery.

Parker died Feb. 20, 2008, in Phoenix. He was born March 25, 1942, in Sanders, into the Towering House People Clan for the Mountain Recess People Clan.

Parker went to school up to the 4th grade. He was a welder for Pem Coal mine when he was in his 30s, retired as a welder in 1998 and worked for Big Mikes Rental.

Survivors include his sons, Richard Parker of Manuelito, Leroy Parker of Gallup, Patrick Parker of Mentmore; daughters, Sandra Parker of Gallup, Cynthia John of Red Rock, Angie Parker of Twin Buttes, Gaynell Paker of Red Rock; 15 grandchildren.

Parker was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Parker; wife, Gracie S. Parker; sons, Darrin Parker, Norman Parker.

Pallbearers will be Leroy Parker, Patrick Parker, Danny Sampson, Bobby James, and Leonard Willie.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Tsa Ya Toh Chapter House, following services.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.


Kevin Nabahe

SHIPROCK — Services for Kevin J. Nabahe, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Tohatchi. Elder Patrick Steward will officiate. Burial will be in family land, Nabahe Cemetery, Naschitti.

Nabahe died Feb. 22, 2008, in Albuquerque. He was born Jan. 16, 1961, in Shiprock, into the Towering House People Clan for the Red Running into the Water People Clan.

Nabahe attended Chuska Boarding School and graduated from Valley High School in Albuquerque. He also attended TVI in Electronics. At the time of his death he was a chef in Albuquerque.

Survivors include his parents, Charlotte John Nabahe of Tuba City; brothers, Rolf J. Nabahe of Albuquerque, Delain L. Nabahe of Phoenix; sisters, Romona Nabahe of Albuquerque, Cindy R. Nabahe of Albuquerque.

Nabahe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Nabahe; brothers, Darrell Nabahe, Dewayne Nabahe; grandparents, Jackuine Nabahe, Flora Belle Nabahe.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
