Giles Gorman

CHANDLER — Funeral services for Giles Craig Gorman, 32, will be 10 a.m. Feb. 27, at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chinle. Lillian Drake will officiate. Burial will be in William Gorman Family Cemetery.

Gorman died Feb. 21, 2008, in Scottsdale. He was born Aug. 24, 1975, in Ganado, into the Tangle People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.

Gorman attended Monument Valley High School and Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (MMI).

Survivors include his wife, Wynema Mitchell Gorman of Chandler; daughter, Shondenah Lynn Gorman; parents, Lorenzo Gorman of Chinle, Joey Greenstone of Pinon; brothers, Reynolds Gorman of Chandler, Miles Gorman, Niles Gorman of Chinle; sisters, Rachel Gorman, Rebecca Gorman of Chinle; grandparent, Gaye Shorthair of Pinon.

Gorman was preceded in death by Juan Shorthair, Alfred Billy Gorman, Jessie Jones Gorman of Chinle.

Pallbearers will be Darwin Greenstone, Darrin Greenstone, Wayne Mitchell, Eugene Jones, Paul Tsosie Jr., Truman Tsosie, James Leslie and Isiah Leslie.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.


Sylvia Gorman

CHINLE — Memorial services for Sylvia Amy Gorman, 50, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the Chinle Trinity Presbyterian Church. Layloni Drake will officiate. Burial will be in William Gorman Family Cemetery, Chinle.

Gorman died Feb. 22, 2008, in Chinle. She was born Dec. 7, 1957, in Ganado, into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Gorman attended Chinle Public Schools and Crownpoint High School. She worked with U.S. Census Bureau, and taught Sunday school at the Trinity Presbyterian Church. Her hobbies included horseback riding, doing crossword puzzles, and traveling.

Survivors include her brother, Lorenzo Gorman; sisters, Dorothy Gorman, Freda Whitehorse, Ireene Laurence, Clementine Gorman, Christine Gorman, Nonabah Mahnke, Viola Gorman, Bertha Gorman.

Gorman was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred B. Gorman and Jessie J. Gorman; sisters, Mildred Gorman, Pauline Gorman.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Chinle Trinity Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, following services.

Sarah Dalgai

SAGEBRUSH — Services for Sarah S. Dalgai, 59, will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Rollie Palm Chapel, Gallup. Pastor Jimmy Bowling will officiate. Burial will be in City Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-4 p.m., today, Feb. 26, at Rollie Mortuary.

Dalgai died Feb. 20, 2008, in Gallup. She was born April 1, 1948, in Fort Defiance, into the Towering House People Clan for the Salt People Clan.

Dalgai graduated in Chilocco Indian School, Chilocco, Ok. She was a homemaker and silversmith. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling and playing with grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Dalgai; sons, Randy Dalgai of Payson, Ariz., Randall Dalgai of Sagebrush; brothers, Emery Bahe, Martinez Bahe, Andy Bahe, Jefferson Bahe, Abel Bahe, Larrison Bahe, Eddie, Allan, Marvin Chee, all of Coalmine Canyon; sisters, Priscilla Watchman, Lorraine Livingston, Lawa Washa, Charlene Bahe, Vera Lovato, Loretta, 8 sisters, all from Coalmine Canyon; six grandchildren.

Dalgai was preceded in death by her parents, Chee Dugalchee, Helen Tom; brother, Leo Begay; grandparents, Eleanor Jin, James Thomas.

Pallbearers will be David Seger, Tony Curtis, Micheal Peters, Tony Watchman, and Trevor Kilasaken.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Rockspring Chapter, following services.

Rauel Blea

ALBUQUERQUE — Graveside services for Raquel “Rachel” Blea, 92, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Grants Memorial Park. Pastor Steve Ulibarri will officiate. Visitation will be 9-10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Compassion Mortuary.

Blea died Feb. 23, 2008, in Albuquerque. She was born Jan. 8, 1915, in San Rafeal.

Blea graduated from Grants High School, was active in sports and won awards in Home Economics. She and her husband owned many businesses; radiator shop, motel, and a taxi cab business., she drove a gas truck when they owned a gas station and a taxi. Blea raised 8 children while working with her husband. Her nickname was Mrs. Blue. She was very active in the community.

Survivors include her children, Julian H. Blea of Albuquerque, Arthur Blea of Grants, Virginia Uguarte of San Antonio, Texas, Nancy Chavez of Albuquerque, Priscilla Serrano of Espanola, Mela Borrego of Albuquerque, Christine Fragua of Antonio, Colo., Norman DaSalla of Albuquerque; 27 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

Blea was preceded in death by her husband, Julian L. Blea; parents, Pablo Gallegos, Maria Arellanes Gallegos; brothers, Merced Gallegos, Rafael Gallegos, Arenello Gallegos; sisters, Lola Chavez, Rita Chavez, Elvidia Chavez.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Borrego, Antonio Chavez, Orlando Chavez, Samuel Blea, Sampson Blea and Jonathan Blea.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Leandro Sam Sr.

COYOTE CANYON — Services for Leandro H. Sam, Sr., 88, will be 11 a.m., Feb. 27, in Albuquerque. George Toledo will officiate. Burial will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery with military honors.

Same died Feb. 21, 2008, in Albuquerque. He was born May 5, 1919, in Counselor.

Sam served 20 years of military service and retired. He served in the World War II and Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Sam; sons, Leandro H. Sam Jr., Lester Sam, Leroy Sam; daughters, Marilyn Sam, Ellen Hill, Roberta Sam, Alberta S. Holyan; 37 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

Sam was preceded in death by his daughter, Lillian Lewis.


Mary George

ST. MICAELS, Ariz. — Funeral services for Mary Katherine George, 77, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the Community Bible Church , Tse Bonito. David Hilderman and Nelson Betoney will officiate. Burial location is pending.

Mary died Feb. 22, 2008, in Sun City West, Ariz. She was born Dec. 21, 1930 in Greasewood, Ariz., into the Big Water People Clan for the Honey-Combed Rock People Clan.
George was a homemaker, she made handcrafted jewelry, arts and crafts, she enjoyed traveling, gardening, loved cooking traditional meals and enjoying time with her family.

Survivors include her daughters, Kathy George of Chandler, Lupe George of Surprise; sons, Gary George of Phoenix, Rick George of Gilbert, Tom George of Seattle, Wash., Marty George of St. Michaels; sisters, Fannie Smith of Phoenix, Marie James; brother, Joe Begay of Lower Greasewood; eight grandchildren; two Great-grandchildren.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn C. George; son, Randy George; parents, Kinlicheenie and Louis Begay; brothers, Ben Begay, Thomas Begay, Benny Begay; grandson, Michael George.

Pallbearers will be Gary George, Rick George, Tom George, Marty George, Joe K. Begay and Robert Smith.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the St. Michael’s Chapter House following services.

Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
