Catherine Miller

CHURCHROCK — Services for Catherine A. Miller, 97, will be 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14 at Rehoboth Christian Reformed Church, Rehoboth. Pastor Bobby Boyd will officiate. Burial will be in Rehoboth Cemetery, Rehoboth.
Miller died Jan. 10, 2008 in Gallup. She was born July 23, 1910 in Fort Defiance into the Folded Arms People Clan for the Black Streak of Forest People Clan.

Miller was a rancher, weaver, and homemaker. Her grandchildren’s education was a priority and through that she approved Churchrock Elementary to be built on her estate.

Survivors include her daughters, Edith Livingston, Dolly Pine, Marie Brown, Angeline M. Tonchine, Elain Sam; 29 grandchildren; 97 great-grandchildren; 29 great-great-grandchildren.

Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Holland Miller; brothers, John Upshaw, Billy Upshaw, Leo Upshaw, Ernest Upshaw; sisters, Mabel Addington, Frieda U. Bitsie, Marie U. Etcitty, Alice Upshaw, Dorothy Upshaw; sons, Edison Miller Sr., Billy Miller, Emerson Miller; one grandson; one great-great-grandson.

Pallbearers will be Edison Miller Jr., Joshua Snyder, Quintin Russell, Ronald Miller, Benson Touchine, Paul Livingston, and Jeffery Kellywood.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Churchrock Chapter, 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12.

Ruth Harding

GALLUP —Ruth L. Harding, 96, died Jan. 9, 2008 in Gallup. She was born Feb.12, 1911 in Fort Defiance.

Harding graduated from school in Ganado. She worked as a critical nurse. She resided in California until 1987 when she moved to Gallup, where she retired from her nursing career.

Survivors include her sons, Jack Harding, William Begay; daughter, Emily Harding; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Harding; parents Kee and Laura McCabe; daughter Renee Rodriguez.


Elsie Sloan

TWIN LAKES — Services are pending for Elsie Mae Sloan, 75.

Sloan died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008 in Twin Lakes. She was born Dec. 1, 1932 in Rehoboth into the Bitter Water People Clan.

A family meeting will be today, Jan. 12 at 4 p.m. at the Tohlakai, C.R.C, Tohlakai.

Marie Perry

TUBA CITY — Funeral services for Marie Pearl Perry, 73, will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at the 1st Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Thomas Crider will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup.

Perry was born Aug. 22, 1934 in Rehoboth into the Red Running into Water People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

She graduated from Gallup High School in 1952.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth Tsinnie; mother, Martha Perry; brothers, Joseph Perry Sr., Raymond Perry, David Perry; sisters, Beatrice E. Perry, Vangie Perry, Linda R. Lee, Josephine L. Perry; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Perry was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Perry Sr.; brother, Alfred Perry Jr.; mother, Evelyn E. Perry.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Perry, Joe Perry Jr., Eugene Perry, Derrick Lee, Dean Goldtooth, and Gabe Goldtooth.

Ernest Allen Wallace

SHIPROCK — Service for Ernest Allen Wallace, 61, will be 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14 at Crestview South Baptist Church, Farmington. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens, Farmington.

Wallace died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008 in Shiprock. He was born Oct. 1, 1946 in Fort Defiance.

Wallace graduated from high school in 1969 in Sanders. He then went on to vocational school in Los Angeles. Wallace enjoyed hunting coyotes and playing music with the “Original Fenders” band, singing his favorite Fenders songs with side musicians, Henry Wallace, Ray Walters, Jasper Wallace, Albert Willie, Lloyd “Froggy” Beyale, Harrison Nakai, D.J. Ramone, Ray Becenti, Troy Becenti, Edward Goober Jr., Jimmy Pete, Joe Cambridge, Paul Brown, and the late Wayne Ramone and Jimson Saunders.
Survivors include his wife, Alvena Wallace of Shiprock; sons, Johnny Wallace, Frisco Wallace, Jasper Wallace, Waco Wallace, all of Shiprock, Frisco Tsosie of Phoenix, Justin Tsosie of Snowflake; brothers, Boyd of Chandler, Henry Wallace of Fort Defiance; sisters, Rose Wallace of Sanders, Sarah Aguilar of Odessa, Texas.

Wallace was preceded in death by his parents, Rose Mary Wallace and Henry Wallace.


Dannie Mason

SUNDANCE — Services are pending for Dannie L. Mason, 72.

Mason died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008 in Albuquerque. He was born Jan. 17, 1935 in Crownpoint into the Tangle People Clan for the Mexican People Clan.

A family gathering will be today, Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Grace Navajo Baptist Church in Mentmore, County Road # 1.

Robert Yazzie Sr.

TWIN LAKES — Services are pending for Robert Herman Yazzie Sr., 74.

Yazzie was died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008 in Twin Lakes. He was born April 14, 1933 in Twin Lakes into the Ute People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.
