Arthur Chester

CORNFIELDS — Services for Arthur Chester, 79, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the Presbyterian Church, Ganado. Father Flann O’Nei,l OFM, will officiate. Burial will be in the community cmetery, Cornfields.

Chester died Jan. 25, 2008, in Cornfields. He was born Oct. 24, 1928, in Tanner Springs, Ariz. into the Sleeping Rock People Clan for the Black Streaked Forest People Clan.

Chester enjoyed ranching after his retirement from the railroad, and watching Western movies and rodeo. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and enjoyed helping others. He enjoyed seeing new places, joking with his family and going to song and dance to socialize with friends and relatives.

Survivors include his wife Elsie Earl Chester of Cornfields; sons, Stanley Chester of Dilkon, Gabriel Chester of Spider Rock , Hosteen Chester of Cornfields; daughters, Bernadette Bega of Many Farms, Josephine Chester-Dennison of Cornfields, Christine Smith of Steamboat, Colleen Begay of Greasewood; sister, Grace Shirley of Sawmill; 37 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

Chester was preceded in death by his son, Art Paul Chester; brothers, Carleo Chester, Albert Chester Sr.; sisters, Eleanor Nez, Winfred Jackson.

Pallbearers will be Gabriel Chester Sr., Gabriel Chester Jr., Alvin Chester, Hosteen Chester, Christopher Yoe and Benjamin Begay.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Rose Bryant

SHEEP SPRINGS — Funeral services for Rose Bryant, 82, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the Naschitti Christian Reform Church. Jerome Sandoval will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot in Sheep Springs.

Bryant died Jan. 24, 2008 in Sheep Springs. She was born Jan. 26, 2008 in Naschitti into the Red House People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Bryant was a lifelong resident of Sheep Springs. Her hobbies included being a homemaker, rug weaver, and rancher.

Survivors include her daughters, Lillie Yazzie, Lenora Enrico; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Bryant was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Bryant, son, Jim Bryant; brothers, Paul Denetdeal Sr., Joseph Begay Sr.; and three grandsons.

Pallbearers will be Paul Denetdeal Jr., Paul Denetdeal III, Christopher Denetdeal, Tracey Bryant, Bronson Enrico and Jimson Bebo.

The family will receive relatives and friends at N.H.A. East Housing #28, Sheep Springs.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.
