Farrell Nez

NASCHITTI — Funeral services for Farrell Lee Nez, 35, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Naschitti Christian Reform Church, Naschitti. Theodore Nez will officiate. Burial will be in Naschitti Community Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup.

Nez died Jan. 27, 2008, in Naschitti. He was born Nov. 25, 1972, in Gallup into the Towering House People Clan for the Water Edge People Clan.

Nez attended schools at Naschitti, Newcomb, Tohatchi, Santa Fe, California, Oklahoma and UNM-Gallup. He was a welder, mail delivery driver and local sand painter. He had natural talent for drawing and music, and enjoyed playing his guitar.

Survivors include his parents, Della Tsosie of Naschitti, Ray Nez of Crownpoint; brothers, Franek Nez of Naschitti; sisters, Florence Thomas of Farmington, Fernanda Nez of Naschitti, NeTanya Nez of Crownpoint, Lynette Nez of Crownpoint; grandparents, Angela Morris, Neal Tsosie, both of Naschitti.

Nez was preceded in death by Jimmy P. Benally, Flossie Tsosie, Angela Nez, Paul Hosteen Nez, Elizabeth Notah.

Pallbearers will be Franek Nez, Edwin Tsosie, Kevin Tsosie, Aaron Tsosie, Collin Nez Tsosie, and Dereck Tsosie.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Naschitti Chapter House, Saturday, Feb. 2, following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.


Art Charley

MARIANO LAKE — Funeral services for Art D. Charley, 44, will be 10 a.m. Feb. 1, at Mariano Lake Community Church, Mariano Lake. Jones Dehiya will officiate. Burial will be in Smith Lake Cemetery.

Charley died Jan. 26, 2008, in Mariano Lake. He was born Dec. 13, 1963, in Gallup into the Water Edge People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Charley attended schools in Mariano Lake and Wingate. He worked numerous carpentry jobs throughout the Four Corners and the railroad.

Survivors include his wife, Terrie Bennett; daughters, Latressa Tom of Mariano Lake, Latrina Spencer of Mariano Lake; parents, Dan and Marie Charley Sr.; brothers, Dan Charley Jr. of Mariano Lake, Reed Charley of Prewitt, Olsen Charley of Gallup, Rex Charley of Mariano Lake, Daniel Charley of Thoreau, Jerry Charley of Klagetoh; sisters, Sarah Charley of Thoreau, Susie Charley of Mariano Lake; 11 grandchildren.

Charley was preceded in death by his sisters, Clara Morgan, Suzanna Charley, Angelina Charley; grandparents, Willie and Mae Johnson, Jimmy K. Thomas, John B. and Mary B. Charley, Minnie Thomas.

Pallbearers will be Ross Anderson, Evander Emerson, Emerson Thomas, Nicky Charley, Rex Charley, Dewayne Thomas.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Mariano Lake Chapter House following services.

Norma Etcitty

SMITH LAKE — Funeral services for Norma A. Etcitty, 89, will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at the Rehoboth Christian Reformed Church. Norman Chee will officiate. Burial will be in Rehoboth Cemetery.

Etcitty died Jan. 29, 2008, in Gallup. She was born March 4, 1918, in Mariano Lake.

Etcitty attended school at Rehoboth Mission. She was a traditional Navajo rug weaver. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to travel.

Survivors include her sons, Bobby Etcitty of Toyei, Edmund Etcitty of Gallup, Edison Etcitty of Smith Lake; daughters, Shirley Etcitty of Crownpoint, Pauline Joe of Smith Lake, Renay Etcitty of Smith Lake, Grace Laurence of Gallup, Genevieve Gibson of Thoreau, Delores Tapaha of Mariano Lake, Darlene Etcitty of Smith Lake; brothers, Tex Anderson of Mariano Lake, Ray Anderson of Crownpoint, Emerson Degroat of Pinedale; 33 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

Etcitty was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Etcitty; son, Eddie Etcitty; sisters, Mary Peshtakai, Annie Julian; brothers, Ralph Anderson, Charles Anderson.

Pallbearers will be Charles Arviso, Darin Tabaha, Ferrill Gibson, Anthony Barboan, Justin Gibson and Brian Gruber.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Red Rock State Park, Churchrock, following services.

Norman Cadman

WINDOW ROCK — Memorial services for Norman R. Cadman, 51, will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Our Mother of Man Kind Catholic Church, St. Michaels. Very Rev. Gilbert Schneider, OFM, will officiate.

Cadman died Jan. 26, 2008, in Window Rock. He was born June 17, 1956, in Albuquerque.

Cadman was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Elsie Begaii.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Michael Parish Hall, St. Michaels.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The New Mexico Heart Institute, Albuquerque.

Nancy Johnson

STANDING ROCK — Services for Nancy Johnson, 79, will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, Crownpoint. Burial will be in family plot, Standing Rock.

Johnson died Jan. 28, 2008, in Albuquerque. She was born Dec. 25, 1928, in Mariano Lake into the Tobacco People Div. of Red Running Into the Water People Clan for the Black Sheep People Clan.

Johnson was a rug weaver, homemaker and rancher. She liked to travel, listen to Native music, socialize with family, relatives and friends. She was well known for preparing puberity ceremonies for young ladies.

Survivors include her sons, Ricky Begay, John Johnson Jr, both of Standing Rock, Lorenzo Johnson, Paul Johnson, both of Albuquerque, Tommy Johnson of Pinedale; daughters, Alvena Begay, Irene Begay, Sylvia Begay, all of Standing Rock, Jeralene Johson of Albuquerque, Sharon Johnson of Yahtehey; brothers, Charley Long, Tom Long, both of Coolidge, Danny Jeff of Thoreau, Sam Jeff of Crownpoint, Tyrone Jeff of Corrales; sisters, Fannie Jeff, Mary Jeff, Louise Nez, all of Mariano Lake, Rose Long of Coolidge; 31 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchildren.

Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, John Johnson Sr.; parents, Jimmy and Mary Long; brothers, Jimmy Jeff, Herbert Werner; sister, Lorraine Mariano; son, Frankie Begay; daughters, Pealene Ella Begaye, Annie Tom; grandchild, Jeremy Dixon.

Pallbearers will be Thomas C. Wilson Jr., Charlton Benally, Johnathan Joe, Preston Johnson, Corin Chiquito, and Tyrel Johnson.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Standing Rock Chapter House, following services.

Hasbah Bahe

CHINLE — Funeral services for Hasbah Y. Bahe, 80, will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Our Lady of Fatima, Chinle. Fr. Blaine Grein, OFM, will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot, Chinle.

Bahe died Jan. 26, 2008, in Chinle. She was born July 1, 1927, in Chinle into the Coyote Pass People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.

Bahe was a homemaker, weaver and rancher. She enjoyed the outdoor life, her livestock and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and children.

Survivors include her sons, Raymond Hoskie, Gary Bahe, Norman Bahe, Bryan Bahe, all of Chinle, Earl Bahe of Bird Springs; daughters, Marylita Yazzie of Chinle, Ilene Curley of Sanders, Isabell Bahe of Holbrook; brother, Bahe Yazzie; sisters, Esther Bahe, Nellie Curley; 29 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Chee Bah; daughter Martha B. Yazzie; father Todichiini Yazhi; mother Aszani Chii; brother Kenneth Yazzie; sister Elizabeth Descheenie.
Pallbearers will be Tyrrell Holyan, Cordell Yazzie, Cornelius Curley, Earl Bahe and Roman Yazzie.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Our Lady of Fatima Hall
