Benny Barker

SANDERS — Services are pending for Benny Barker, 63.

Barker died May 11, in Sanders. He was born Nov. 29, 1944, in Sanders, into the Red Running Into the Water People Clan for the One Who Walks Around People Clan.

Preston Draper

CHINLE — Funeral services for Preston Ted Draper, 39, will be 10 a.m., May 14, at the Catholic Church, Chinle. Burial will be in the family plot, Nazlini, Ariz. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. May 14, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

Draper died May 9, 2008, in Chinle. He was born July 22, 1968, in Fort Defiance.

Draper graduated from Chinle High School and attended Diné College. He worked at Paradise Village and was a professional boxer at the time of his death. Draper was the son of Navajo Code Talker, Teddy Draper Sr. and enjoyed training and being physically fit.

Survivors include his wife, Kerry Tsosie; son, Detreal Draper; daughters, Areana, Alicia, Chelsea, Camille, Shonya, Montana Draper; parents, Teddy Draper Sr., Lucy Vanwinkle; brothers, Mike Draper Sr., Teddy Draper Jr., Teddy Draper III, Otto Draper Sr., Wendell Draper, Stanley Draper; sisters, Gloria Begody, Geneva Stephens, Teresa Draper, Theodora Draper, Wendy Draper, Theocia Vanwinkle, Lorraine Wilson; two grandchildren.

Draper was preceded in death by Dean Vanwinkle, Gary Wilson, Harold Wilson, Margaret Vanwinkle, Jones Vanwinkle.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Barrera, Russell Anaya, Eugene Anaya, Jerome Anaya, Vladimir Draper, and Nicki Stevens.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Nazlini Chapter House, following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Taylor Pete

SANDERS — Services are pending for Taylor Shannon Pete, 14.

Pete died May 9, 2008, in Sanders. She was born Feb. 28, 1994, in Grants.

Pete was a student at Sanders Mid-School.

A family gathering will be 6 p.m., tonight, May 13, at the United Methodist Church, Pinedale, and 6 p.m. May 14, at the family residence, Sun Bean Lane Lot 32, Sanders.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.

Jesse Pino

PINEHILL — Memorial services for Jesse Jonathan Pino, 30, will be 10 a.m. May 14, at the Ramah Nazarene Church. The Rev. Harrison Silversmith will officiate. Private disposition will be in family plot.

Pino died May 6, 2008, in Gallup. He was born Oct. 25, 1977, in Gallup, into the Salt People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Pino graduated from Pinehill High School. He was an honorary student, had perfect attendance, participated in basketball, football and music. Pino attended SIPI College in Albuquerque and Diné College, Tsaile. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Scouts, a musician, loved to dance, cook and help people.

Survivors include his mother, Bertha Pino of Pine Hill; sisters, Lola Pino Jim, Crystal Dawn Pino, Albertha Char Pino, Aretha Jake, Arbre Jake of Pinehill.

Pino was preceded in death by Francis Kee, Betty Kee; father, Albert C. Pino; Rev. Robert Sr., Annabelle E. Pino.
