7 sentenced for DWI,
probation violations

GRANTS Seven people received sentences from
13th Judicial District Court Judge Camille Martinez-Olguin on April
22. Individuals were given jail time, probation, conditional discharges
and deferred sentences.
- Donald Garcia, 55, was given 18 months in the Department of
Corrections, to serve concurrent with a separate sentence and
ordered to serve one year on supervised probation. Garcia was
convicted of driving while intoxicated, fourth offense, and ordered
to refrain from driving a motor vehicle while on parole and to
have an interlock device in any vehicle he has access to. He must
complete Therapeutic Communities while in custody.
- Leonard Paul Serna, 26, was reinstated on supervised probation
and ordered to complete Community Corrections and other recommended
programs in connection with a conviction for violating probation
terms.
- Pete Gutierrez, 33, was reinstated on supervised probation and
ordered to complete the Path of Renewal and follow recommendations,
in connection with a conviction of probation terms.
- Nicholas Garcia, 47, was given deferred sentences in connection
with convictions for false imprisonment and battery against a
household member. The sentence for first conviction will be deferred
for 18 months and the sentence for the second conviction for 364
days; the deferments will run consecutively. Garcia is also ordered
to serve two and one half years of supervised probation and to
complete a domestic violence Offenders program, plus enter
individual and couples counseling.
- Michelle Solis, 33, was given a sentence deferred for 18 months
in connection with a conviction for aggravated assault against
a household member, with intent to commit a violent felony. Solis
must also complete Anger Management and accept a habitual offender
enhancement to his sentence if he violates probation.
- Paul Martinez, 34, was sentenced to two-18 month terms in the
Department of Corrections, to run consecutively, for violation
of probation terms, with underlying charges of receiving stolen
property and tampering with evidence.
- Wilbert Aragon, 42, received a deferred sentence of 18 months
for a conviction of attempted bribery or intimidation of a witness
and a deferred sentence of 364 days for a conviction of battery
against a household member. The sentences will run concurrently.
Aragon was also given 18 months of probation and ordered to follow
recommendations resulting from assessments.
