Russell Blaisdell

GRANTS — Funeral services for Russell Willard Blaisdell, 76, will be 2 p.m. May 24, at the Temple of Peace, Milan. Burial will be in Cahone Community Cemetery, Colo.

Blaisdell died May 21, 2008, in Grants. He was born June 6, 1931, in Cortez, Colo.

Blaisdell was a retired Uranium Miner and a member of the Temple of Peace.

Survivors include his wife, Lettie Eaton Blaisdell of Grants; children, Janice Welsch of Grants, Russell Edward Blaisdell of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

Blaisdell was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Blaisdell, Hazel James Blaisdell; daughter, Darlene Gail Rhoderick; brothers, Lloyd Blaisdell, Lyle Blaisdell, Charles Blaisdell.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley Dennison

NASCHITTI — Services are pending for Shirley Rose Dennison, 70.

Dennison died May 21, 2008, in Albuquerque. She was born April 10, 1939, in Naschitti.

A family gathering will be 6 p.m. May 24, at the Naschitti Chapter.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Concetto DiGiacomo

GALLUP — Services are pending for Concetto I. DiGiacomo, 79.

DiGiacomo died Thursday, May 22, 2008, in Gallup. He was born April 4, 1929, in Cansano, Italy.

Edison Pablo

GRANTS — Funeral services for Edison Pablo, 68, will be 10 a.m. May 24, at the White Ridge Pentecostal Church. Burial will be in Pablo Family Cemetery, White Ridge, N.M. The Rev. Dan Barbone will officiate.

Pablo died May 21, 2008, in Grants. He was born Aug. 17, 1939, in Crownpoint, into the Zia People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Survivors include his children, Lucita Toadlena of Tohlakia, Loretta Pablo of Gallup, William Pablo of Shiprock; sisters, Jennie Yazzie of Crownpoint, Anita Ramone of White Point, Mary Pablo of Crownpoint, Dixie Largo of Albuquerque, Marie Begay of Crownpoint; brother, Paul Pablo of Crownpoint; three grandchildren.

Pablo was preceded in death by his parents, Monte Pablo, Pauline Chapo Pablo.

Pallbearers will be Tyle Pablo, Cody Pablo, Fred Pablo, William Pablo, Gino Chavez, and Adrian Mescal.

Ernest Ramirez

GALLUP — Funeral Mass for Ernest S. Ramirez Sr., 83, will be 10 a.m. May 24, at the St. Francis Church, Gallup. The Rev. Paul will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Gallup. Visitation will be 12-4 p.m. at Rollie Mortuary. A rosary will be recited 10 a.m. May 24, at the St. Francis Church.

Ramirez died May 21, 2008, in Gallup. He was born Sept. 16, 1924, in Gallup.

Ramirez was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He served in World War II in the South Pacific Theatre. He was a Boatswains Mate 1st Class and a Navy Frogman. Ramirez enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his son, Ernest J. Ramirez Jr.; daughters, Sally Herrera, Cecilia Tanner, Katherine Martinez, Patricia Ramirez, all of Gallup; brother, Fred Ramirez; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

Ramirez was preceded in death by his wife, Frances D. Ramirez; father, Dagoberto Ramirez Sr., Mother, Candelaria Ramirez; brothers, Dagoberto, Joe, Louie; sisters, Lucy Ramirez, Candelaria Ramirez, Virginia Bubany.

Pallbearers will be Isaac Herrera, Lawrence Ramirez, Brian Tanner, Lance Tanner, Jesse Martinez, and Johnson Lee Jr.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Sacred Heart Cathedral Family Center, following services.

Medford Salway

PHOENIX — Memorial services for Medford D. Salway, 74, will be 10 a.m. May 24, at the Lady of Fatima Church, Chinle. Burial will be at a later date.

Survivors include his brothers, Bucky Salway, Lucky Salway; sisters, Lynn Mousseaux, Sharon Bale; nine children; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Salway was preceded in death by his parents, Marcel Salway, Rose Tenfingers; sisters, Lenora Dowty, Michelle McKinney, Jodine Salway.

Reception location to be announced.

Richard Shaw

WIDE RUINS — Funeral services for Richard Bruce Shaw, 57, will be 10 a.m. May 24, at the St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Klagetoh. The Rev. John Hotstream will officiate. Burial will be in Klagetoh Community Cemetery.

Shaw died May 19, 2008, in Albuquerque. He was born June 6, 1950, in Ganado, into the Towering House People Clan for the Black Streak Forest People Clan.

Shaw was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He had worked as an iron worker and drove a school bus in Greasewood, Many Farms, and Chinle. Shaw enjoyed horseback riding, running, jogging, and helping his children.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie Shaw; sons, Murphy Shaw, Roydale Shaw, both of Wide Ruins; daughters, Karm Shaw of Many Farms, Tanya Boudreaux of Many Farms; brothers, Tayah Shaw of Holbrook, Wallace Shaw of Cornfields, Ariz., Benjamin Shaw of Polacca, Ariz.; sisters, Alice Nez of Holbrook, Sarah Spencer of Navajo; 23 grandchildren.

Shaw was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Lynch Shaw; father, Thomas Shaw; sisters, Nancy Casteneda, Roselyn Billie; brother, Lorenzo Shaw.

Pallbearers will be Alvin Sam, Willie Jones, Edward Castenada, Gregory Yazzie, Chris Boupreaux Jr., and Cassandra Morgan.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Wide Ruins Chapter House, following services.

Freda Smith

THOREAU — Services for Freda Mae Smith, 41, will be 10 a.m. May 24, at the Prewitt Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Thoreau Community Cemetery. The Rev. Ruth Droll will officiate.

Smith died May 20, 2008, in Albuquerque. She was born July 1, 1966.

Smith was employed with the Womens State Prison in Grants at the time of her death.

Survivors include her children, Leah Lamipcti of Thoreau, Calvena Toledo of Grants, Dorenda Toledo of Thoreau, Calvin Toledo Jr., of Thoreau, Daniel Largo of Thoreau, Holden Toledo of Thoreau, Hayden Largo of Thoreau; parents, Fred Smith Jr., Lavern Smith of Prewitt; sisters, Gloria Dominguez of Santa Fe, Wanda Chavez of Santa Fe, Lucille Yazzie of Gallup, Audrey Smith of Prewitt, Rhonda Smith of Pecos; brothers, Fredrick Smith of Prewitt, Roderick Smith of Prewitt, Dalton Smith of Prewitt; two grandchildren.

Smith was preceded in death by her brother, Freddie Smith.

Pallbearers will be Alvin Yazzie Sr., Eldon Yazzie, Roderick Smith, Tyrone Begay and Gabriel Lolito.
