Sammie Bia

CHINLE — Services for Sammie F. Bia, 61, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 13, at Our Lady of Fatima, Chinle. Brother Gordon Boykin will officiate. Burial will be in family plot, Spider Rock. Visitation will be one hour prior to serivces.

Bia died June 10, 2009, in Farmington. He was born March 15, 1948, in Fort Defiance, into the Red Running Into the Water People Clan for the Edge Water People Clan.

Bia attended Nazlini Boarding School and Chinle High School. He worked for N.I.P.I. in Navajo, was a supervisor for Y.C.C., ambulance driver for Chinle T.H.S., and a well know roadman for Native American Church. His hobbies included hiking, camping, and traveling. He was a mechanic and handy man.

Survivors include his wife, Lorina Bia of Chinle; sons, Nathaniel Bia, Fernando Bia, both of Chinle; daughters, Lucille Bia, Regina Bia, Doreen Bia, Vergina Bia, all of Chinle; brothers, Foley James of Chinle, Dan Nez of Salina Springs, Herbert Bia of Phoenix; sisters, Susie Bia, Lena Begay, Anna Teller, all of Chinle, Glenna Thomas of Navajo, Rosemary Spencer of Navajo; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Bia was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Lorraine Bia; son, Gerald Tsosie.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Anthony Hernandez III

GALLUP — Services for Anthony Hernandez III, 1 day-old, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 13, at Rollie Mortuary. The Rev. Patrick D. Schafer, OFM, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Gallup.

Hernandez died June 10, 2009, in Gallup. He was born June 10, 2009, in Gallup, into the Meadow People Clan for the Mexican People Clan.

Survivors include his parents, Anthony E. Hernandez II, Jaylene C. Tso; sister, Dakota A. Hernandez; grandparents, Ethylene Gruber, Peterson Tso; Antonio and Geri Hernandez.

The family will receive relatives and friends at 909 Cascade, Gamerco, following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Dannie Largo

WINSLOW — Funeral services for Dannie R. Largo, 65, will be 10 a.m., Friday, June 12, at Maranatha Assembly of God, Winslow. The Rev. Henry Chase will officiate. Burial will be in Desert View Cemetery,Winslow.

Largo died June 8, 2009, in Winslow. He was born Aug. 30, 1943, in Smith Lake, into the Towering House People Clan for the Black Streak People Clan.

Largo was employed with Winslow Indian Health Care Center. His hobbies included silversmithing, listening to country music, fishing with his wife and playing the harmonica. He was also a member of Border Town Natives Band. Sports were his favorite pastime, watching basketball, football and his number 1 sport was wrestling. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports.

Survivors include his wife, Helena K. Largo; son, Jason R. Largo; daughters, Elaine Taha, Sharon Yazzie, Kathy Bert, Saralena Taha, Arlinda Nez, Janice Largo-Nelson; mother, Janice Nez; brothers, Hoskie Largo, Calvin Nez, Jimmie Largo; sisters, Evelyn Largo, Elsie Delgarito, Nancy Nez; 28 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Largo was preceded in death by his sisters, Rena Largo, Rose Francisco, Carol Nez; brothers, Sam Largo, Ray Nez; father, Frank Largo.

Pallbearers will be Tino Yazzie, Harold Taha, Jason Largo, Brandon Taha, Trenton Nez, Ricky Nez.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Desert Scene Lodge, Winslow.

Elfigo Padilla Sr.

LAS CRUCES — Memorial services for Elfigo (Al) F. Padilla Sr., 80, will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 13. His remains will be inurned 9 a.m., Saturday, June 20, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Columbarium. Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 p.m., with the prayer vigil at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 13, at La Paz-Graham's Funeral Home 555 W. Amador, Las Cruces.

Padilla died June 10, 2009.He was born August 27, 1928 in Atarque, NM.

Padilla retired from WSMR in 1983.

Survivors include his loving wife, Leonor Chavez Padilla; sons, Elfigo (Fig) Padilla, Gregory Padilla; daughters, Dolores Aimesbury, Denise Sena; seven grandchildren; sisters Virginia Baldonado, Ruth Sutton, Cora Trujillo; brother, Pimie Padilla.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. 

In lieu of flowers, family ask that donations be made in Al's name to any of the following: Cowboys for Cancer,  La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice, or The Retired Catholic Priests and Nuns.

Rosemary Yazzie

MENTMORE — Funeral services are pending for Rosemary Yazzie, 62.

Yazzie died June 11, 2009, in Gallup. She was born Aug. 27, 1946, in Mentmore.

A family gathering will be 6 p.m., tonight, June 12, at Tse Yatoh Chapter House and 6 p.m., Saturday, June 13, at Rock Springs Chapter House.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
