John Jones Sr.

STANDING ROCK — Funeral services for John H. Jones Sr., 84, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 23, at Rollies Palm Chapel, Gallup. The Rev. Edgar Yazzie will officiate. Burial will be in family land, Standing Rock.

Jones died Thursday, June 18, in Crownpoint. He was born March 17, 1925, in Standing Rock, into the Sleepy Hanging Over Rock People Clan for the Red Running Into the Water People Clan.

Jones was a farmer, railroad worker, and carpenter. His hobbies included spending time with family and friends. He also did leather work and enjoyed taking care of livestock and being a rodeoman.

Survivors include his wife, Helen B. Jones of Standing Rock; sons, Edison Jones of Standing Rock, Jasper Jones of Standing Rock, John H. Jones Jr. of Standing Rock, Jason Jones of Standing Rock; step-sons, Harrison Chaco of Standing Rock, Ernest Chaco of Standing Rock; daughters, Jennifer Jones of Crownpoint, Caroline Jones of Standing Rock, Janet Jake of Standing Rock; sisters, Lillian Perry, Borrego Pass, Rena Martinez, all of Gallup, Pauline Enrico of Crownpoint, Annie Becent of Thoreau, Sadie Smith of Crownpoint; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Jones was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jefferson H. Jones.

Pallbearers will be Jason Jones, John Jones Jr., Jasper Jones, Cody Jones, Albert John, Elton Jones.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Standing Rock Chapter House, following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
