2 men rob Tuba City Thriftway

WINDOW ROCK — Two men reportedly robbed the Thriftway store in Tuba City on June 22 and are wanted for aggravated assault.

The early morning of June 22, a cashier at Thriftway called the Tuba City Police District to report that he was robbed at gunpoint by two men.

One of the men wore a black shirt, blue jeans and a blue cap. The other wore a button-up shirt, gray jeans and a red cap.

After demanding and receiving the money in the cash register, the two fled on foot with $160.

Four Navajo Nation police officers responded to the call and the criminal investigation department is investigating.

Rollovers

Two men were injured in a vehicle rollover near Burnside, Ariz., the morning of June 21.

Lyle Dave Gishie, 28, and Tyrus Gerald Mann, 21, were ejected from the vehicle and one man was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was taken to the local medical center for treatment and later transported to Flagstaff Medical Center.

Navajo Nation Police did not indicate which of the men survived and which was deceased.

A vehicle rollover 8 miles south of Montezuma Creek, Utah killed the lone occupant the evening of June 8.

Corrina Yazzie was in the vehicle that was traveling northbound on Navajo Route 35 when it lost control. The vehicle rolled three times and Yazzie was ejected. She died at the scene, Navajo Nation Police stated.

The case has been referred to the Shiprock criminal investigation department.

Fire

A structure fire is being investigated by Navajo Nation law enforcement.

The fire was in an unoccupied trailer the night of June 14 in Hogback. The San Juan County Fire Department put the fire out and indicated that it had come from a mattress that was set on fire in the living room.

The trailer was “a total loss” and uninsured, according to Navajo police.
