GALLUP — Levi Clark of Ganado was killed in a U.S. Army training accident in Bamberg, Germany.

Clark, 20, graduated from Ganado High School in May 2006.
He joined the Army in October 2006, went to basic training and combat engineer training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. He spent 13 months in Iraq, with the E Company 54th Engineer Battalion and was with the elite engineer organization SAPPERS, a special forces unit in the Army.

On July 1, he received orders to return to the U.S. But the next day he was killed in the accident.

“He loved his work,” his mother Charlene Kaamasee said in an interview Wednesday.
