David Garcia

GRANTS — Rosary and Funeral Mass for David “Prim” Garcia, 79, will be 9:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 3, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. Burial will be in Grants Memorial Park.

Garcia died July 24, 2009, in Grants. He was born March 15, 1930, in McGaffey.

Survivors include his sisters, Vera Medina of Gallup; Fabiana Garcia of Gallup, Lorraine Veloz of Milan.

Garcia was preceded in death by his parents Livrado Torrez, Mariz Garcia Veloz.

Pallbearers will be Pat Lujan, Xavier Medina, Edward Veloz, Ray Lopez, Sidro Medina, Cardino “Gomer” Chavez.

Dorothea Smith

CROWNPOINT — Funeral Mass for Dorothea Jane Smith, 51, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, July 1, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Crownpoint. The Rev. Kevin Finnegan will officiate. Burial will be in Crownpoint Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m., one hour prior to services, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church.

Smith died July 27, 2009, in Albuquerque. She was born March 4, 1958, in Crownpoint, into the Sleeping Rock People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.

Smith graduated from Crownpoint High School. She was employed at Select Comfort. Her hobbies included sewing, listening to Johnny Cash and country music, and traveling from Salt Lake City, Utah to Crownpoint, to see family.

Survivors include her husband, David Yazzie Stoney of Albuquerque; sons, Ryan J. Stoney, Davis J. Stoney, all of Albuquerque; daughters, Wynnona Smith, Deanna Lynn Smith, all of Albuquerque; mother, Nora Cowboy of Crownpoint; brother, Tommy Cowboy of Crownpoint; sisters, Ann Jeff of Crownpoint, Etta Billy of Albuquerque, Kate Martin of St. Michaels, Irene Hoycott of Denver, Colo., Sadie Ivie of Salt Lake City, Utah; six grandchildren.

Smith was preceded in death by her brother, Leo Cowboy; father, Tom Cowboy.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Charley, Vince Cowboy, Spencer Cowboy, Brandon Gutherie, Angel Segura, Ricky Begay.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
