WINDOW ROCK — Martin Ashley, executive director of the Navajo Tax Commission, reported this week to the Budget and Finance Committee that he believes the commission is on track for meeting its general fund revenue projection, but may be short on meeting the projection for the oil and gas severance tax.

Ashley said $83 million in actual revenues for fiscal year 2009 has come in to the Navajo Nation’s coffers. “The projection for fiscal year 2009 was $70,906,250. The general fund collections that have come in through July 31 is $60,758,768.” He said some of that was set aside for the tax suspense fund, so the net amount is $60,151,181.
