Deaths

Kenneth Dedman Sr.

NAZLINI — Funeral services for Kenneth C. Dedman Sr., 63, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 24, at St. Michaels Catholic Church. The Rev. Gilbert Schneider will officiate. Burial will be in family plot, Nazlini. Visitation will be 9 a.m., Sept. 24, at St. Michaels Church.

Dedman died Sept. 20, in Flagstaff. He was born Feb. 14, 1946, in Ganado, into the Cliff Dwellers People Clan for the Black Streak of Forest People Clan.

Dedman grew up among a traditional family who taught him to stay closely connected with his parents and siblings. He went to school at Nazlini Boarding School and Chinle Boarding School and later went to school in Riverside, Calif. His ambitions continued in the job force as a forestry worker under NFPI. At age 21, he was given the duties of a foreman for 25 years. Shortly after he was employed with Walgreens as a supply stocker for 5 years in Flagstaff, and later took a job as a security officer with NECA for three years before retiring. Dedman enjoyed being with family and friends and taking the responsibility of making sure families were kept warm and had necessities.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Dedman; sons, Kelbert Dedman of Flagstaff, Kevin Dedman of Nazlini; daughter, Kimberly Dedman of Holbrook; mother, Louise B. Dedman; brothers, Francis Dedman Jr. of Nazlini, Thomas Dedman of Nazlini, Delbert Dedman of Flagstaff; sisters, Marie Tsosie of Nazlini, Elsie Denetso of Flagstaff, Alice Chico of Nazlini, Marlene Dedman of Nazlini; 11 grandchildren.

Dedman was preceded in death by his father, Francis Dedman Sr.; brothers, Henry C. Dedman, Henry Gilbert Dedman, Ray C. Dedman; son, Kenneth Dedman Jr.

Pallbearers will be Norman Morgan, Thomas Dedman, Alton Dedman, Francis Dedman Jr., Alonzo Chico, Ronald Tsinaajinii.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Louise B. Dedman’s Residence, Nazlini.

Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Matilda Delgai

SUNRISE SPRINGS — Services for Matilda June Delgai, 61, were10 a.m., today, Sept. 23, at Ganado Presbyterian Church. Visitation was 9 a.m., today, Sept. 23, at Ganado Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Audrey Jefferson officiated. Burial was in Community Cemetery, Ganado.

Delgai died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, in Mesa. She was born Oct. 28, 1947, in Ganado, into the Towering House People Clan for the Red House People Clan.

Survivors include her brothers, Eugene Delgai, Wallce Delgai, both of Ganado, John Delgai Jr., of Gallup; sisters, Ella Delgai, Joan Delgai, both of Ganado.

Delgai was preceded in death by her parents, John Delgai Sr., Mauda Delgai; son, Jeremiah Damon; sister, Rosetta Beyale.

Pallbearers will be Darren Delgai, Jonathan Beyale, Thornton Beyale.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
