GALLUP — The FBI has released photos taken by a surveillance camera of a robber who held up Bank of America Wednesday.

The man remains at large and Gallup Police Department and the FBI continue to investigate.

The man pictured in these photos approached a teller about 3:40 p.m. and gestured as though he was reaching for a gun under his shirt, according to Gallup Police Deputy Chief John Allen. The man stole only what was in the teller’s drawer — an undisclosed amount — and fled west on foot. He remains at large.

Allen said the man had chosen a slow time of day and did not have to wait to see a teller.

“He was able to go to the window without having to wait in line,” Allen said Wednesday evening.

Allen said this is the first bank robbery recorded in Gallup since 2001; that year police recorded five bank robberies.

Crimestoppers is offering up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the robbery suspect. Crimestoppers in Gallup can be reached at (505) 722-6161.
