Shiprock soldier dies of wounds from Afghan war

WINDOW ROCK — Operation Enduring Freedom has claimed the life of a soldier from Shiprock.

The Department of Defense announced Friday that U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Kenneth W. Westbrook, 41, died Wednesday of wounds he suffered from a Sept. 8 attack by insurgents in the Ganjigal Valley, Afghanistan.
