Dustin Mortensen

PHOENIX — Funeral services are pending for Dustin Mortensen, 41.

Mortensen died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, in Phoenix.

A meeting will be 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 15, at Baca Chapter House, Prewitt.

Harvey Pete

BESHBITOH, Ariz. — Funeral services for Harvey Arthur Pete, 75, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 15, at St. Michaels Catholic Church. Burial will be in family plot, Beshbitoh. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m., Oct. 15, at St. Michaels Catholic Church.

Pete died Oct. 10, 2009, in Goodyear. He was born May 26, 1934, in Ganado, into the Honeycomb Rock People Clan for the Red Running Into the Water People Clan.

Pete attended Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla., and Ganado College. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and BIA Educator. He enjoyed gourd dancing and pow-wows.

Survivors include his wife, Rose A. Pete of Beshbitoh; sons, Marvin H. Pete, Melvin R. Pete, Michael L. Pete, Merle E. Pete, all of Besbitoh; daughters, Melvinda K. Pete, Mardeana Pete, both of Beshitoh; brothers, Jerome Pete Sr., Norman Pete, both of Beshbitoh, Julius Pete, Jerry Pete, both of Steamboat; sisters, Shirley Pete of Beshbitoh, Midge Aragon, Alice Johnson both of Steamboat; 15 grandchildren.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Eleanor Pete; brothers, Alfred Pete, Herman Pete, Donald Pete, Homer Pete.

Pallbearers will be Marvin Pete, Melvin Pete, Michael Pete, Monte Pete, Gerald Pete, Terrell Pete.

The family will receive relatives and friends at 3 p.m., Oct. 15, at family residence, 1.7 miles north of Hwy. 264 at milepost 418.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Samuel Silversmith Jr.

NASCHITTI — Burial for Samuel Silversmith Jr., 39, will be in Naschitti Community Cemetery.
Silversmith was born April 26, 1970, in Gallup, into the Towering House People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.

Silversmith attended Newcomb High School. He managed a small business, worked as an oil field worker for Rosen Construction, an iron worker and a rancher.

Survivors include his daughter, Samantha Yazzie; mother, Edith Silversmith; sisters, Betty Johnson, Sarah Silversmith, Ethel Denetclaw, Bertha Silversmith, Elaine Silversmith; grandparents, Lucky and Annie Morris, John and Marie Peshlakai.

Silversmith was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Silversmith Sr.

Pallbearers will be Myron Silversmith, Nathaniel Silversmith, Amosiah Denetclaw, Dewayne Tsosie, Michael Warren, Johnny Woods.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
