Victor Belone

FORT DEFIANCE — Funeral services for Victor Belone, 20, were 10 a.m., today, Oct. 20, at Assembly of God Church, Fort Defiance. Burial will be in family plot, Old Red Lake Road, Fort Defiance.

Belone died Oct. 15, 2009, in Fort Defiance. He was born Dec. 18, 1988, in Fort Defiance, into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Edgewater People Clan.

Belone attended Window Rock High School and Job Corp. He worked for the BIA Forestry and enjoyed skateboarding, bike riding, and playing softball.

Survivors include his wife, Tasha Mann; daughter, Aisiah W. Belone; mother, Genevieve Watts; brothers, Kevin Belone, Tyler Watts; sisters, Raeanna Watts, Trena Martinka, Ganeane Watts; grandparents, Franklin Watts, Zonnie Watts, Mable Belone.

Belone was preceded in death by his father, Julius Belone Jr.; grandfather, Julius Belone Sr.
Pallbearers were Matthew Curleyhair, Cordell Curleyhair, Leo Paul Jr., Adrian Watts, Cecil Henry Jr., Franklin Cooke.

The family received relatives and friends at Fort Defiance Chapter House, following services.

Cindy Chavez

CROWNPOINT — Funeral services for Cindy Chavez, 32, will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21. The Rev. Gene Martinez will officiate. Visitation will follow.

Chavez died Oct. 15, 2009, in Crownpoint. She was born Sept. 14, 1977, in Gallup, into the Hairy Ones People Clan for the Mexican People Clan.

Survivors include her parents, Raymond Chavez Sr. of Crownpoint, Darlene Chavez of Crownpoint; brothers, Jasper Willie of Churchrock, Raymond Chavez Jr., of Chinle Valley; sisters, Caroline Willie of Casamero Lake, Gerline Charlie of Farmington, Pauline Willie of Pueblo Pintado, Renita Maestas of Torreon, Marlene Chavez, Cynthia Chavez, both of Durango, Colo., DeAundra Chavez of Crownpoint; grandparents, Irene Chavez of Crownpoint, Shorty Willie of Crownpoint.

Pallbearers will be Tyrone Eleando, Rupert Cleveland, Herman Henderson, Armondo Henderson, Archie Cleveland, Frank Castillo.

The family will receive relatives and friends at North Valley housing #12, Crownpoint, following services.

Ernie Cowboy

COYOTE CANYON — Funeral services for Ernie Cowboy, 88, were 10 a.m., Oct. 20, at Rollie Mortuary, Gallup. Minister Pat Nuggulle officiated. Burial was in Gallup City Cemetery, Gallup. Visitation was at Rollie Mortuary.

Cowboy died Oct. 15, 2009, in Albuquerque. He was born April 10, 1921, in Pinedale, into the Water Flows Together People Clan for the Folded Arms People Clan.

Cowboy was a retired U.S. Army Veteran in World War II and a rancher. He enjoyed being around cattle livestock, watching western movies, listening to KGAK, doing word search puzzles and loved being around his grandchildren. He was a handy man around his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Ramona J. Cowboy; brothers, Bernie Shorty Cowboy, Willetto C. Vicenti, Vincent R. Vicenti; sister, Nuse Capitan; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Cowboy was preceded in death by his son, Ernest Vicenti; one granddaughter.

Pallbearers were Leander Vicenti, Ervin Smith, Tyrone H. Dixson, Marlon L. Dixson, George Begay, Mario Chicherello.

The family received relatives and friends at Coyote Canyon Chapter, following services.

Herman Paloma

ZUNI — Traditional Wake for Herman Paloma, 86, will be 9 p.m., today, Oct. 20, at his residence, Pia Mesa Rd. #61C. Burial will be Wednesday, Oct. 21, in Quincy Panteah Cemetery, Zuni.

Paloma died Oct. 18, 2009, in Zuni. He was born Nov. 1, 1923, in Zuni.

Paloma attended Zuni Christian Reformed School. He was an active member of the American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic from 1942-1945. His hobbies included spending time at his sheep camp, singing, silversmithing and watching WWE Wrestling. His favorite wrestler was John Cena. Most of all, he liked spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Wyaco Paloma of Zuni; sons, David Paloma Sr., Gabriel Paloma, both of Zuni; daughters, Janie A. Paloma, Cecelia M. Paloma, Lavina Paloma, Brenda L. Paloma, Cordelia F. Paloma, all of Zuni; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be his nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends at h is residence, following services.

Tom Martin Jr.

STANDING ROCK — Services are pending for Tom Martin Jr., 42.

Martin died Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, in Standing Rock. He was born March 8, 1967, in Crownpoint, into the Red House People Clan for the Zuni People Clan.

Family gathering will be 6 p.m., today, Oct. 20, at Becenti Chapter.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Edith Totsoni

CHINLE — Gravesite service for Edith Chee Totsoni, 97, will be 10 a.m., Oct. 21, at Chinle Community Cemetery. Burial will be in Chinle Community Cemetery.

Totsoni died Oct. 18, 2009, in Chinle. She was born July 15, 1912, in Tselani, into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Big Water People Clan.
Survivors include her brother, Charlie T. Nez; daughter, Helen Chee James.

Totsoni was preceded in death by her son, Lewis Gorman; sisters, Belle Gorman, Elouise Gorman; Emma Chee; brothers, Peter Totsoni, George Totsoni, Eli Totsoni.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Apache Trails House #19, following services.
