Donavon Becenti

TOHATCHI — Funeral services for Donavon Mike Becenti, 35, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 18, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tohatchi. Burial will be in Tohatchi Community Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m., tonight, Nov. 18, at St. Mary Catholic Church.

Becenti died Nov. 15, 2009, in Gallup. He was born June 20, 1974, in Rehoboth, into the Weaver People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.
Becenti graduated from Gallup High School and attended ENMU-Portales and UNM-Gallup. He loved to watch NFL and college football, golf and baseball. He also liked to visit with family and friends.

Survivors include his sons, Marcus Becenti, Peyton Becenti; daughter, Kaitlyn Becenti; parents, Mike and Lucy Becenti; brother, Eric Becenti; sisters, Stephanie Pino, Roxana Becenti.

Becenti was preceded in death by his grandparents, Horace and Mary Burbank, Herman and Rose Becenti.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Loretto, Virgil Loretto, Ronald Lucero, Patrick Yazzie, Lendell Burbank, Anthony Arviso.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Tohatchi Chapter House, following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Nellie Jenkins

CRYSTAL — Funeral services for Nellie Marie Jenkins, 79, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 19, at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, Crystal. Branch President Shane Louis will officiate. Burial will be in family land, Crystal. Visitation will be 9 a.m., Nov. 19, at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, Crystal.

Jenkins died Nov. 15, 2009, in Albuquerque. She was born Nov. 13, 1930, in Crystal, into the Salt People Clan for the One Who Walks Around People Clan.

Jenkins lived in Crystal all her life. She moved to Artesia for her daughter’s education then to Blanding, Utah. She was well known for her quilts. She loved to travel and was always on the road hauling people to the store or laundry mat.

Jenkins also loved her family, friends and the people in the community.

Survivors include her daughters, Vina Jeanie Kiro, Darlene (Dugi) Jenkins; sisters, Dorothy Gould, Betty Begay, Helen Stewart, Victoria Nez; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Jenkins was preceded in death by her son, Randall Benally; daughter, Jennifer Jenkins.

Pallbearers will be Michael F. Kiro, Michael Dalton, Triston Dalton, Willard Dalton, Clayton Long.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Crystal Chapter House, following services.

Sudhaben Patel

GALLUP — Funeral services for Sudhaben Patel, 72, were 10 a.m., today, Nov. 18, at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, 924 Menaul Blvd., NE.

Patel died Nov. 14, 2009, in Gallup. She was born March 9, 1937, in Bardoli, India.

Survivors include her sons, Rahul, Yogash, Arun; brother, Thakorbhai; sisters, Madhuben, Ramilaben; four grandchildren.

Patel was preceded in death by her husband, Ratilalbhai.

Albert Perez

FLAGSTAFF — Funeral services for Albert Perez, 87, will be 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 20, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Vaughn, N.M. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 19, at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel.

Perez was camping with sheep bands, at the age of 7. He attended school in Buchanan and Vaughn, where he graduated from high school. He later attended NMSU for a short time, but returned when WWII began. Perez was Chairman of the Guadalupe County Soil and Water Conservation District for 30 years, and was honored with the New Mexico Wool Growers’ 2000 Sheepman of the Year. Perez was the consummate rancher and steward of the land.

Survivors include his wife, Corinne; sons, Albert (Tibo) Perez of Taos, Narciso Perez of Albuquerque; daughter, Camnria Masci of Gallup, Pier of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren; sisters, Anna Osle of Albuquerque, Alice Perez of Vaughn.

Perez was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Ysaura Perez; sister, Carmen.

Pallbearers will be Vincent Perez, Dominic Perez, Bruce Dereta, Frank Perez, John Spensieri, Carlos Armendariz.

Joshua Pete

CHINLE — Funeral services are pending for Joshua “Josh” Amos Pete, 23.

Pete died Nov. 16, 2009, in Flagstaff. He was born April 26, 1986, in Chinle.

Pete graduated from Coconino High School and attended Mt. Eden Middle School, and Christensen Elementary School, all in Flagstaff. He then enlisted into the Army. After completing basic training, he was sent to Afghanistan to defend his country. He was honorably discharged on May 8, 2009, after serving with honor and valor.

Pete was enrolled and attending Northern Arizona University pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in order to provide professional assistance to the Navajo Nation and non-tribal members.

Larry Wilson

CRYSTAL – Funeral services for Larry Riley Wilson, Sr., 62, will be 11 a.m., today, Nov. 18, at the Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup. The Rev. James Bennett, Sr., will officiate. Burial will be in family plot, Crystal.

Wilson died Nov. 15, 2009, in Fort Defiance. He was born Sept. 9, 1947, in Rehoboth, into the Red Running Into the Water People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan. 

Wilson was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the 1st Air Cavalry, and a huge supporter of the Army and Marines, Semper Fi. He was a member of the Crystal Veterans Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 1440. He attended Gallup High School and college at UNM and Parks Business School in Denver, Colo. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, UNM Lobos, Boston Red Socks, Los Angeles Lakers, NCAA Basketball, WWF, military movies, rodeos, and Navajo Nation fair parades. Wilson was a steer wrestler, rancher, avid pool player, poker and craps player, hunter, fisher and joker. He really cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Elrosa; sons, Larry Jr., Riley, Justin Sr., all of Crystal; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Wilson was preceded in death by his father, Henry H. Wilson; mother, Mary E. Wilson; daughter, Michelle J. Wilson.

Pallbearers will be Gene Wilson, Ron Wilson, Jim B. Wilson, Donovan Dez, Clinton Begay, Shauna Begay, Michael Begay, Tanya Dooline, Darren Tsosie.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Crystal Chapter House, following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
