Harry DeVore

CROWNPOINT — Memorial services for Harry Caytona DeVore, 92, will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Rollie Mortuary. Burial will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-4:30 p.m., tonight, Nov. 24, at Rollie Mortuary.

DeVore died Nov. 23, 2009, in Crownpoint. He was born Oct. 17, 1917, in Crownpoint, into the Tangle People Clan for the Over Hanging Rock People Clan.

DeVore retired from the BIA, Fort Wingate, after 19 years. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 10 years, Navajo Police for 5 years and served in the United States Army WWII and was honorably discharged.

Survivors include his son, Johnny C. DeVore; daughters, Cecelia Zospah, Vanda DeVore, Myratricia Saganey, Yoland DeVore; brother, John C. DeVore Sr.; 28 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild.

DeVore was preceded in death by his son, Leland Tim DeVore; daughter, Etta Mae Smith.

Pallbearers will be Shane Zospah, Allen Charley, Benson Charley, Donovan Saganey, Vernon DeVore, Johnny DeVore, Bryan Perry.

The family will receive relatives and friends in Crownpoint, following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Gonzales

GALLUP — Services for Ruth P. Gonzales, 98, will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 25, at St. Francis Catholic Church. The Rev. Patrick D. Schafer, OFM, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 p.m., tonight, Nov. 24, at Rollie Mortuary. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m., tonight, Nov. 24, at Rollie Mortuary.

Gonzales died Nov. 22, 2009, in Gallup. She was born Dec. 12, 1910, in Kelly.

Gonzales attended Catholic School. She worked at J.C. Penney and Gallup Community Service Center.

Survivors include her son, George V. Gonzales; daugthers, Celia Montoya of Rosemead, Calif., Teresa H. Madrid of Mesa, Irene Telles of Gallup; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Gonzales was preceded in death by her husband, Victor G. Gonzales; parents, Isabel and Manuel Peralta; son, Anthony C. Gonzales; brothers, Mike and Louie Peralia, Isidro Peralta, Henry Peralta; sisters, Rita Martinez, Lena Sanchez.

Pallbearers will be Robert Telles, Russell Telles, Ray Montoya, Mike K. Madrid, Mike A. Madrid, Ray Telles.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Elks Lodge, following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Bessie Platero

BLUEWATER — Services for Bessie C. Platero, 90, will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Grants. Burial will be in Pioneer Memorial Park, Bluewater.

Platero died Nov. 22, 2009, in Rio Rancho. He was born May 21, 1919, in Standing Rock.

Survivors include her husband, Sam Platero of Borrego Pass; children, Lee Platero of Rio Rancho, Leo Platero of Salt Lake City, Thomas Platero of Bread Springs, Rita Adison of Castle Dale, Utah, Janice Antone of Borrego Pass, Paulien Eversole of Bluewater; sister, Dorothy Tolth of Borrego Pass; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

Platero was preceded in death by her sister, Nellie Becenti; brother, Charlie Chavez; parents, Andrace Chavez, ‘At’eed Chii.

Pallbearers will be Lee Platero, Leo Platero, Thomas Platero, JR. Adison, Mario Platero, Jamie Platero.
