WINDOW ROCK — Funding has been approved for the Dec. 15 special election, and the Navajo people will get to vote on whether to reduce the Navajo Nation Council from 88 to 24 delegates and whether to give the line item veto power to the president.

The Council’s Intergovernmental Relations Committee voted 8-0 in favor of the resolution to approve a memorandum of understanding between the executive and legislative branches. The memo will provide the funding needed for the special election to the Navajo Election Administration from the Motor Vehicle Authority.
