WINDOW ROCK — The Navajo Division of Health reported that a groundbreaking ceremony to begin the first phase of construction of the Kayenta Alternative Rural Hospital was in September. The new facility will replace the IHS facility that was built in 1959, according to the NDOH quarterly report for fiscal year 2009 fourth quarter.

The hospital and staff housing will cost an estimated $150 million, of which $18.3 million has been appropriated by Congress in increments over several years, the NDOH stated.
