Fred Beckner

BLUEWATER — Services for Fred A. Beckner, 77, were 10 a.m., today, Dec. 5, at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, Grants.

Beckner died Nov. 27, 2009, in Bluewater. He was born July 25, 1932, in Roanoke, Va.

Beckner was retired from the Anacoda Mines. He was a Veteran of the Airforce serving during the Korean War.

Survivors include his children, Mike Beckner of Bluewater, Rick Beckner of Elko, Nev., Mark Beckner of Laughlin, Nev.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Beckner was preceded in death by his wife, Jerry Beckner; parents, Fred Henry Beckner, Violet Marie Beckner; brother, Paul Beckner.

Helen Smith

UPROOTED TREE — Funeral services for Helen Smith, 85, will be 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 7, at Cope Memorial Chapel. Kee Benally will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery.

Smith died Dec. 2, 2009, in Gallup. She was born Dec. 24, 1923, in Red Rock, into the Meadow People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Smith was a homemaker and rancher. She enjoyed being with her family and friends. Her hobbies included herding sheep, sewing, weaving and listening to traditional music.

Survivors include her son, John C. Smith of Jones Ranch; daughters, Rose Lee, Lily Joe, Irene Smith, all of Skeets Rd., Annie Toledo of UpRooted Tree; brothers, Kee Pat of Skeets Rd., Tom Jerry Kee of Sundance; sister, Mary Washington of Chichiltah; 18 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren.

Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Buck Smith; sons, Tom Joe Smith, Calvin Smith.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Washington, Gerald Washington, Gary Washington, Carol Toledo, Sherman Toledo, Myron Martin.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Red Rock Chapter, following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Grace Tsosie

GALLUP — Services are pending for Grace B. Tsosie, 82.

Tsosie died Dec. 3, 2009, in Albuquerque. She was born Oct. 11, 1927, in Rehoboth.
