Michael Hazelton

MESA — Memorial services for Michael Hazelton, 71, will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, at Grace bible Church, Gallup. A viewing was held 6-7 p.m., Dec. 1, at Trinity Baptist Church, Mesa. Funeral followed. Interment was private.

Hazelton died Nov. 22, 2009, in Mesa. He was born July 14, 1938, in Dodge City, Kan.

Hazelton was a math teacher for over 45 years with most of his career at Gallup High School.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Hazelton; daughters, DeAnn and Lisa; four grandchildren.

Erma Hernandez

GALLUP — Memorial services for Erma Hernandez, 46, wil be 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 11, at Iglesia Christana Maranata, Gamerco. The Rev. Martin Lopez will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery. Visitation will be 12 p.m., Friday, Dec. 11, at Iglesia Christana Maranata.

Hernandez died Dec. 4, 2009, in Albuquerque. She was born July 7, 1963, in Chihuahua, Mexico.

Hernandez worked as a cook at various restaurants in Gallup. She enjoyed spending time with her children.

Survivors include her sons, Felipe Jr. Hernandez, Miguel Anjel Retano of Albuquerque; daughers, Sandra Hernandez, Andre Hernandez of Albuquerque; brothers, Manuel, Carlos; sisters, Teresa Jabalera of Albuquerque; Lourdez of Talamante of Mexico.

Hernandez was preceded in death by Felipe.

Pallbearers will be Socorro Araqonez, Felipe Hernandez Jr., Babua Henderson, Mike, Cereceres, Arcadio Retana, Daniel Jabalera.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Iglesia Christana Fellowship Hall, following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Shirelle Jones

BUFFALO SPRINGS — Memorial services for Shirelle Lynn Jones, 27, will be 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 11, at First Baptist Church, Gallup. Navy Chaplain will officiate. Burial will be in Community Cemetery, Tohatchi.

Jones died Dec. 7, 2009, in Albuquerque. She was born May 2, 1982, in Farmington, into the Folded Arms People Clan for the Red Running Into the Water People Clan.

Jones graduated from Tohatchi High School in 2001. She was a Lance Corporal, U.S. Marine, was in active duty and stationed in Camp Pendelton, Calif. She received many awards, Global War on Terrorism Service, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal.

Survivors include her father, Oscar Jones of Buffalo Springs; brothers, Justin Jones of Albuquerque, Wyatt, Jarrett, both of Mentmore; sister, Dallas of Mentmore; grandmother, Mary L. Jones of Buffalo Springs.

Jones was preceded in death by her mother, Isabelle Jnoes; grandfather, Edward Jones.

Pallbearers will be U.S. Marines.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Rose Yazzie

BREADSPRINGS — Funeral services for Rose T. Yazzie, 82, will be 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 11, at Rollie Mortuary Palm Chapel, Gallup. The Rev. Jake Yazzie will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Gallup.

Yazzie died Dec. 6, 2009, in Gallup. She was born March 18, 1927, in Breadsprings, into the Black Streak People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Yazzie was a single parent and worked at Shalimar as a housekeeper where she later retired. She then worked at Truck Stops of America.

Survivors include her sons, Timothy Hannah of Breadsprings, Herman Hannah of Ramah; daughter, Irene Begay of Breadsprings; brothers, Willie Thomas of Chichiltah, Albert Thomas, Russell Thomas of Two Wells; sisters, Juanita Davis of Breadsprings, Patsy Baldwin of Wide Ruins, Alice Duboise of Breadsprings, Lucy Willie of Breadsprings, Dorothy Logg of Barstow, Calif., Nellie Jackson of Gallup; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

Yazzie was preceded in death by her parents, Navajo Thomas, Nellie Thomas; sister, Helen Begay; sons, Dennison Yazzie, Alexander Thomas.

Pallbearers will be family members.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Breadsprings Chapter, following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
