GALLUP — When rappers In House Entertainment need inspiration for their music, they look to the reality of Native American life as it is lived on the reservation. They romanticize while hanging out, sharing stories about hard times, or friendly moments around the Navajo Nation.

The group sings hip hop and rap music — gangsta and consciousness-based — like few other groups from the rez. That could be why so many people from around the greater McKinley County area came out to “Open Mic Night” Saturday at Gallup’s historic El Morro Theatre.
