Stanley Charley

PINEHILL — Services for Stanley Alfred Charley, 62, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 19, at Rollie Mortuary, Gallup. Evangelist Jake Yazzie Sr., will officiate. Burial will be in family plot, Mariano Lake.

Charley died Dec. 5, 2009, in Gallup. He was born March 10, 1947, in Crownpoint, into the Red Running Into the Water People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.

Charley attended school in Fort Wingate and Chema, Org. He was employed with Labor and Carpentry and was a mechanic. His hobbies included doing yard work, fixing vehicles and being around his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Charley of Pinehill; sons, Chris Charley Sr., of Gallup, Chester Charley Sr. of Thoreau, Sampson Charley of Pinehill, Freddie Jake of Pinehaven; daughters, Karen Diaz of Gallup, Thelma Charley of Gallup, Theresa Ann Tom of Mariano Lake, Christine Charley of Thoreau; brothers, Benny J. Charley, Daniel K. Charly, both of Mariano Lake; sisters, Agnes C. Lee of Greasewood, Joan C. King of Iyanbito; 32 grandchildren.

Charley was preceded in death by his parents, Alice Charley, Joe Kee Charley; sisters, Nellie K. Smith, Mary C. Bennett; one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Chris Charley Sr., LeRoy Tom, Leo Tom, Elmer Tom, Sampson Charley, Vernard Martinez Jr.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Mariano Lake, following services.

Lola Duhon

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Rosary and services for Lola Duhon, 75, will be 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 20, at French Mortuary Westside Chapel.

Duhon died Dec. 4, 2009. She was born July 16, 1934, in Grants.

Duhon graduated from Cathedral High School in Gallup. She worked several years as a manager for a food and beverage service. She enjoyed football and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her sons, Thomas Mallan Duhon Jr., James Allen, Gary Anthony Duhon; daughter, Cynthia Lynn Kingrey; sisters, Lena, Virginia, Mary; brothers, Al, James; four grandchildren.

Duhon was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Duhon; sister, Digna; brother, Andrew A.

Erlinda Esparza

GRANTS — Rosary and funeral mass for Erlinda C. Esparza, 83, will be 9:30 a.m., Dec. 19, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. Burial will be in Grants Memorial Park. The Very Rev. Alberto Avella will be the Celebrant.

Esparza died Dec. 17, 2009, in Grants. She was born June 1, 1926, in Albuquerque.

Esparza devoted her life to her family and friends. She will be remembered for her love of music and her cooking.

Survivors include her children, Tony Esparza of Grants, Yolanda Werkheiser of Stroudsburg, Penn., Rita Jaramillo of Belen, Ramona Esparza of Grants, Socorro Esparza of Grants; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Esparza was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Esparza; parents, Eusebio Chavez, Chonita Salazar Chavez; son, Lorenzo Quintana.

Pallbearers will be Rick Jaramillo, Dale Werkheiser, Michael Blea, Raymundo Vizearra, Tony Soto, Ruben Sandoval.

Ozetta Lester

INDIAN WELLS — Services for Ozetta Morris Lester, 90, were 10 a.m., today, Dec. 18, at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, Holbrook. Burial was in Holbrook City Cemetery. Visitation was 9 a.m., today, Dec. 18, at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church.

Lester died Dec. 14, 2009, in Indian Wells. She was born April 15, 1919, in Indian Wells, into the Bigwater People Clan for the Cliff Dweller People Clan.

Lester was a homemaker, rancher and a Navajo rug weaver. She was outspoken in politics and everything else.

Survivors include her sons, Jerome Lester, Roy Lester Sr.; daughters, Marie Lester, Irene Begay, Elernora Wilson; brothers, Chester Morris, William Morris; sister, Hope Yazzie.

Lester was preceded in death by her husband, Tracy Lester.

Elvis Nelson

JONES RANCH — Funeral services for Elvis Geo Nelson “Morning Star”, 39, will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 19, at Cope Memorial Chapel.

Evangelist Boots Wagner will officiate. Burial will be in family cemetery, Jones Ranch.

Nelson died Dec. 9, 2009, in Boston, Mass. He was born Dec. 25, 1969, in Gallup, into the Mexican People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Nelson was a graduate of Gallup High School. He was a carpenter and electrician. He was currently working in Boston, Mass.

Survivors include his mother, Eleanor N. Kanawite of Gallup; son, Michael Antonio Nelson; brother, Lorne “Ben” Geo Nelson of Phoenix.

Nelson was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nellie D. and Gene Nelson.

Pallbearers will be Sean Moore, Colin Moore, Andy Mariano, Rodrick Spencer, Tim Benally, and Aaron Anderson.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Red Rock Chapter House, following services.

Jasper Piano

GALLUP — Graveside services for Jasper Piano, 86, will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 19. The Rev. Mark Lillie will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be 12-7 p.m., tonight, Dec. 18.

Piano died Dec. 16, 2009, in Albuquerque. He was born April 26m, 1923, in Gallup.

Piano graduated from Sacred Heart High School. He joined the Navy in 1942, and served in World War II, on the Destroyer U.S.S. Earl B. Hall. He worked for Redburn Produce until he and his brother open A&J Produce Co. Piano retired after many years. He enjoyed being with family and friends, loved sports, boating, bird hunting, fishing and playing Jeopardy.

Survivors include his wife, Emily Piano; sons, John Piano, Charles Piano, Thomas Piano, all of Gallup; brothers, Andy Piano of Gallup, Lawrence Carmignani, Robert Carmignani, both of Albuquerque; sisters, Josephine Richards of Grants, Betty Mora of Gallup; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Piano was preceded in death by his parents, John and Catherine Piano.

Pallbearers will be John Piano, Charles Piano, Thomas Piano, Lance Piano, Eric Piano, and James Piano.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart Hospital of New Mexico.

Mary Skeet

PINEHILL — Services for Mary K. Skeet, 88, will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 19, at Bird Springs Baptist Church, Pinehill. Burial will be in private land, Pinehill.

Skeet died Dec. 12, 2009, in Pinehill. She was born May 15, 1921, in Pinehill.

Survivors include her sons, Kelsey Skeet of Pinehill, Wilson Skeet of Pinedale, Tony Skeet of Pinehill, Harrison Skeet of Pinehill; daughters, Betty K. Yazzie of Pinehill, Rita Skeet of Pinehill, Lorita Tracey of Nazalini; sister, Elsie Pino of Pinehill; brothers, Jimmie K. Jake of Pinehill, Francis Coho of Pinehill; 28 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

Skeet was preceded in death by her husband, Kee Skeet; parents, Arciano Jake, Nora Natan Coho Jake; son, Tom Willie Skeet; daughter, Baby Angel Skeet.
