Tommy Clarke Sr.

CHINLE — Funeral Mass for Tommy Clarke Sr., 62, was 10 a.m., today, Jan. 4, at Our Lady of Fatima, Chinle. The Rev. Blaine Grein officiated. Burial was in family plot, Chinle.

Clarke died Dec. 30, 2009, in Ganado. He was born Oct. 26, 1947, in Chinle, into the Coyote Pass People Clan for the Yucca Fruit-Strung-Out In A Line People Clan.

Clarke worked for the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority for 20 years and Phoenix Welding and Supply for 8 years before retiring.

Survivors include his wife, Kimberly Clarke; son, Tommy Clarke Jr.; daughters, Gina Fleming, Trina Mathis, Tomasita Clarke, Janelle Tsosie, Clarissa Clarke; step-daughter, Kristelle Shirley; mother, Anna Roan; brothers, Frankie Roan, Freddie Roan Jr., Perry Roan; sisters, Rose Ann Bill, Shirley Descheenie-Effland; 21 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family received relatives and friends in Chinle, following services.

Silver Creek Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Kee Hoskie

GALLUP — Services are pending for Kee Hoskie, 74.

Hoskie died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, in Gallup. He was born April 8, 1935, in Red Rock.

A family meeting will be 6 p.m., tonight, Jan. 4, at Red Rock Chapter House.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Tom Hudson

TSAYATOH — Graveside services for Tom B. Hudson, 86, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 5, at Gallup City Cemetery. Peter handeland will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery.

Hudson died Dec. 30, 2009, in Gallup. He was born June 15, 1923, in Tsayatoh, into the Edgewater People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Hudson retired from Santa Fe Railroad. He was a rancher and community service advocate.

Survivors include his sons, Henry Hudson, Lester Hudson, Fred Hudson, Walter Hudson, Anthony Hudson; daughters, Marjorie Hudson, Mildred James, Lenora Lemaster, Ophelia Reeder; brothers, Jimmy John Etsitty, Tom Joe Etsitty, Tom Jim; sister, Mary Etsitty; 31 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren.

Hudson was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Hudson; sister, Nasbah Spencer; brother, Floyd Etsitty; parents, Etsitty Begay, Nadesbah Begay.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Manuelito Chapter, following services.

David Mendoza

GALLUP — Funeral services for David G. Mendoza, 57, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 5, at St. Francis Church. The Rev. Eduardo (Lalo) Espinosa-Chacon, OFM, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Gallup. Visitation will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m., today, Jan. 4, at Rollie Mortuary. A rosary will be recited 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 5, at St. Francis Church.

Mendoza died Dec. 30, 2009, in Gallup. He was born Jan. 12, 1952, in Gallup.

Mendoza attended Gallup High School, Central Junior College and Grand Canyon University. He was employed with the City of Gallup Park and Recreation. His hobbies included coaching and teaching baseball. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. Mendoza was drafted by the San Francisco Giants. He played “AA” ball with Fresno Giants and was a huge Yankee fan.

Survivors include his wife, Angela Mendoza of Gallup; sons, Brandon Mendoza of Los Angeles, Dominic Mendoza of Gallup; mother, Theresa Mendoza of Gallup; brothers, Raymond Mendoza of Rockford, Ill., Johnny Mendoza of Monteray Park, Calif.

Mendoza was preceded in death by his father, Ramon B. Mendoza; grandparents, Tomasita Giron Martinez, Aurelia Baca Mendoza, Candelario Giron, Eutemio Mendoza.

Pallbearers will be Miguel Garcia, Don Jordan, Chris Williams, Donavan Baldwin, Mike Virruso, Keith Money.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Knights of Columbus, Gallup, following services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gallup Federal, in the name of David Mendoza.

Joe Peshlakai

NATURAL BRIDGE — Funeral services for Joe C. Peshlakai, 87, were 10 a.m., today, Jan. 4, at Mary Mother of Mankind, St. Michaels. Sister Josephine Goebel, CSA, officiated. Burial was in family land, Natural Bridge, Ariz.

Peshlakai died Dec. 31, 2009, in Fort Defiance.

He was born March 15, 1922, in St. Michaels, into the Red Running Into the Water People Clan for the Edge Water People Clan.

Peshlakai worked as a logger and was a peacetime veterans in WWII, a preventive maintenance with heavy equipment in road construction, and was employed with ONEO and N.T.U.A. until he retired as a carpenter. His hobbies included taking care of livestock, agriculture, carpentry and Red Lake Farming.
Survivors include his wife, Mary C. Peshlakai; sons, Joseph Peshlakai, Roger Peshlakai, both of Window Rock; daughters, Nellie Curtis of St. Michaels, Helen Peshlakai of St. Michaels, Marjorie Nez, Jeana Yazzie, Myrtle Peshlakai, all of Fort Defiance; brother, Sammy Peshlakai of Torreon; sisters, Irene Yazzie, Ella Mae Peshlakai, Louise Anthony, all of St.Michaels, Nellie Brown of Long Beach, Calif.; 28 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Peshlakai was preceded in death by his sons, Tom Peshlakai, Paul Peshlakai.

The family met at Joe and Mary Peshlakai’s residence, following services.
