Antonio Garcia

GRANTS — Funeral services for Antonio Madrid Garcia, 68, will be 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 8, at Compassion Mortuary. The Rev. Louie Martinez will officiate. Burial will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 9, at Ojo Sarcos Cemetery, Ojo Sarcos.

Garcia died Dec. 24, 2009, in Lancaster, Calif. He was born May 10, 1941, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Garcia of Grants; children, Tony Madrid of Albuquerque, Jesse Madrid of Grants, Manuel Madrid of Grants, Tammie Garcia of Leadville, Colo., Rick Madrid of Grants; brother, Cuco Madrid of Mexico; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Garcia was preceded in death by his parents, Elauterio Madrid, Dolores Garcia; brothers, Enrique Garcia, Manuel Madrid; sisters, Dulce Madrid, Ramona Madrid.

Miles Jose

PINE HILL — Graveside services for Miles Adam Jose, 26, will be 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 8, at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, Ramah.

Bishop Tietchen will officiate. Burial will be in Jose family plot. Visitation will be 9 a.m., at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church.

Jose died Jan. 5, 2010, in Pine Hill. He was born Oct. 24, 1983, in Black Rock , into the Sleep Rock People Clan for the Meadow People Clan.

Jose received his high school diploma from Tucson. He was attending CNM (1 Semester-Fall 2009) Majoring in Psychology. His hobbies included being an artist. He loved to tattoo and draw. He liked to listen to music and go on Myspace. He loved Juggalo.

Survivors include his parents, Stanley Jose, Carolyn Coho; sister, Shelby Jose.

Jose was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ben and Kathryn Jose, Edith C. Gibson; great-grandfather, Billy Coho; daughter, Nahnazbah Jose.

Pallbearers will be Herlton Chee, Allison Yazzie, Eli Yazzie, Irvin Jose, Tyren Jose, Tyson Jose.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, Ramah.

Marie Thompson

CROWNPOINT — Funeral services for Marie F. Thompson, 92, will be 11 a.m., today, Jan. 7, at family land, Nahodishgish. Burial will be in the family land, Nahodishgish.

Thompson died Jan. 3, 2010, in Grants. She was born Nov. 15, 1916, in Crownpoint.

Survivors included her children, Bobby Thompson of Nahodishgish, Dorothy Secatero of Laguna, Joe Thompson of Crownpoint, Lee Thompson of Albuquerque, Cecelia Etsitty of Mentmore, Julia Etsitty of Mentmore; sisters, Dorothy Yazzie of Crownpoint, Mae Morgan of Nahodishgish, Mary F. Morgan of Nahodishgish; brother, Willie James Sr., of Standing Rock; 27 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Thompson; father, John Frank; son, Timmy Thompson; sister, Margaret Thompson.

Pallbearers will be Delbert Thompson, Randy Secatero, Jerome Thompson, Bernie Etsitty, Adrian Largo, Eugene Etsitty.

Chris Trujillo

GALLUP — Funeral Mass for Chris A. Trujillo, 48, will be 10:30 a.m., at St. Francis Catholic Church, Gallup. The Rev. Eduardo “Lalo” Espinosa Chacon, OFM will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. A rosary will be recited 10 a.m., at St. Francis Catholic Church, with Cipri Sanchez officiating.

Trujillo died Dec. 28, 2009. He was born Oct. 29, 1961, in Gallup.

Trujillo was a service technician with Culligan water in Gallup and Phoenix for the past 20 years.

He was a weight lifter, enjoyed basketball, football and collected miniature cars.

Survivors include his mother, Rita Leyba of Gallup; son, Chris Trujillo Jr. of Las Cruces; sister, Margaret Leyba of Surprise, Ariz.; brother, Moses Trujillo of Gallup; grandmother, Lillian Leyba of Gallup.

Trujillo was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Trujillo; sister, Mary Ann Trujillo; brothers, Johnny Trujillo, Joe Trujillo.

Pallbearers will be Moses Trujillo, Manuel Leyba, Mark Diaz, Rene Roberts, Edward “Bobo” Anderson, Margaret Leyba.

Nolan Tsosie

SEAMA, N.M. — Wake and funeral services for Nolan David Tsosie (Uncle Buck), 47, will be Jan. 7 and Jan. 8, at Tsosie residence, Seama Housing, house #110.

Tsosie died Jan. 4, 2010 in Seama. He was born Oct. 2, 1962.

Tsosie attended Crownpoint Elementary, Crownpoint Jr. High and graduated from Laguna-Acoma High School. He was employed as a Forrest Fire Fighter in Acoma, Albuquerque, Laguna, and Fort Hall, Idaho. He also did some construction in New Mexico and in Louisiana, worked at Dancing Eagle Casino and Sky City Casino as a Slot Tech. His hobbies included watching football, the Denver Broncos, paint pottery, play and sing Powwow songs. He enjoyed hunting, hiking, and anything to do with outdoor activities.

Survivors include his mother, Sarah L. Tsosie; father, Alvin B. Tsosie; brothers, Alvin A. Tsosie of Crownpoint, Nathan W. Tsosie of Bernallio; sisters, Cinthia M. Tsosie of Grants, Charlotte R. Tsosie of Denver, Colo.

Tsosie was preceded in death by his brother, Jonathan C. Tsosie; grandparents, Eileen and Cliford Leeds, Annie and Noswood Tsosie.

Edison Tully

ST. MICHAELS — Funeral services for Edison Tully, 51, will be 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 8, at St. Michael Catholic Church. Sister Josephine will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael Community Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m., Jan. 8, at St. Michael Catholic Church.

Tully died Jan. 3, 2010, in Window Rock. He was born June 9, 1958, in Fort Defiance, into the Water Edge People Clan for the Salt Water People Clan.

Tully attended Window Rock District. He was self employed. He liked to ride horses, play basketball, country oldies and be with friends.

Survivors include his son, Emerson Tully; daughters, Cheryl Tully, Safara Tully, Tiffany Tully; father, Anslem Tulley; brothers, Allison Manuelito, Ricky Manuelito; five grandchildren.

Tully was preceded in death by his mother, Lilly Jones; sister, Verley Manuelito.

Pallbearers will be Larson Johnson, George McCabe, Zackery White, Joseph White III, Bobby Manuelito, Robby Manuelito.

The family will meet 12:30 p.m., at St. Michaels Chapter, following services.

Esther Valdez

BLANCO CANYON — Funeral services for Esther P. Valdez, 85, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 9, at Living Word Church, Farmington. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Farmington. Visitation will be 3-6 p.m., Friday, Jan. 8, at Dzil-na-oo-dilii Bible Church, Huerfano.

Valdez died Jan. 4, 2010, in Blanco Canyon. She was born April 5, 1924, in Blanco Canyon.

Survivors include her husband, Sam Valdez of Blanco Canyon; sons, Santo Valdez of Shiprock, Leroy Valdez of Lee Acres, Keroy Valdez of Farmington, Ramses Valdez of Chaco Plant, Murphy Valdez of Blanco Canyon, Floyd Valdez of Waterflow; daughters, Florence Betselie of Dzil-na-oo-dilii, Anna Valdez of Blanco Canyon, Esther Napie of Blanco Canyon, Phyllis Dixon of Littlewater, Elvira Harvey of Dzil-na-oo-dilii, Elaine Valdez of Kirtland; 29 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Valdez died son, Sam Jr.; sons, Lawrence, Larry, Murray Valdez; sister, Irene Diswood; brother Roy Victor; one granddaughter.
