Anne Clark

CALIFORNIA — Funeral services for Anne C. Clark, 85, were 11 a.m., today, Jan. 9, at First Southern Baptist Church, Holbrook. Burial will be in Holbrook Cemetery.

Clark died Dec. 26, 2009, in Victorville, Calif. She was born March 9, 1924, in Blanco Canyon.

Clark attended school near Durango, Colo., and Toadlena. She worked at various jobs throughout her life that took her to California and then Arizona. After her husband’s retirement they spent time with relatives in Arizona and New Mexico.

Survivors include her children, Lena A. Guza, Newman J. Clark; brothers, John Willie,Carl Chee; sister, Pearl Chee; two grandchildren.

Clark was preceded in death by her husband, Newman C. Clark.

Edison Joe

TWIN LAKES — Funeral services for Edison A. Joe, 72, will be 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 11, at Rollie Mortuary. The Rev. Jerry Baker will officiate. Burial will be Tohatchi Community Cemetery, Tohatchi.

Joe died Jan. 6, 2010, in Gallup. He was born May 10, 1937, in Twin Lakes, into the Red House People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Joe was a rancher. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing cards, western movies and being outdoors. He loved to listen to KGAK and listening to the basketball games on the radio.

Survivors include his brother, Tony Joe of Pine Dale; sister, Ethel Benally of Twin Lakes; five grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Jim Joe; mother, Alma Kinlichee Joe; brother, Robertson Joe.

Pallbearers will be Herb Benally, McKyale Tso, Robert Benay, Rodney Bitsilly, Claudine Benally, other family members.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Twin Lakes Chapter.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Donald Pelotte S.S.S.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Services are pending for Donald Edmond Pelotte, S.S.S., 64.
Pelotte died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was born April 13, 1945, in Waterville, Maine.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Betty Phelps

ST. MICHAELS — Services for Betty Jean Phelps, 56, will be 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 11, at Tse Bonito Community Bible Church. The Rev. Nelson Betoney will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michaels.

Phelps born Nov. 22, 1953, in Morenic, into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Yucca Fruit-Strung-Out People Clan.

Phelps attended Fort Wingate High School and two years in Albuquerque Business College. Was employed and retired as a Navajo Nation (EPA) employer.

Survivors include her sons, David Phelps, Bobby Phelps; brothers, Benny Benally, Dan Benally, Edward Benally, Gene Benally, Alvin Benally, Earl Benally; sisters, Roseanne Yazzie, Jenny Smiley, Linda Benally; four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Gene A. Benally, Edward Benally, Gary Price, David Yazzie, Mathew Notah, Alvin Benally.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Michaels Chapter, following services.

Jesus Roman

MILAN — Funeral Mass for Jesus Roman, 67, will be 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 11, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. The Very Rev. Alberto Avella will officiate. Burial will be in Grants Memorial Park. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 10, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

Roman died Jan. 7, 2010, in Milan. He was born Aug. 12, 1942, in Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico.

Survivors include his wife, Amalia Roman of Milan; children, Helario Roman of Granby, Colo., Alberto Roman of Minn., Mary Saavedera of Seboyeta, Jose Sandoval of Grants, Drfin Sandoval of Lubbock, Texas, Erika Sandoval of Lubbock, Texas, Azucena Sandoval of Greeley, Colo., Jesus Sandoval of Milan, Raquel Holgin of Milan; 26 grandchildren.

Roman was preceded in death by his parents, Hilario Roman, Luiza Perez Roman.

Pallbearers will be Hilaro Roman, Alberto Roman, Jesus Sandoval, Jose Parra, Clarence Saavedera, Efrin Sandoval.

Elsie Slivers

MANY FARMS — Funeral services for Elsie Begay Slivers, 83, will be 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 11, at Our Lady of Fatima, Chinle. Burial will be in family plot, Many Farms.

Slivers died Jan. 7, 2010, in Chinle. She was born Feb. 26, 1926, in Many Farms, into the Red Running Into the Water People Clan for the Water Flows Together People Clan.

Slivers was a homemaker and weaver.

Survivors include her sons, Albert of Avondale, Perry of Tsaile, Wilford Jr. of Lukachukai, Samuel of Many Farms; daughter, Darlene of Many Farms; brothers, Howard Towne, Deswood Begay, Harvey Towne, all of Many Farms, Rodney T. Begay, of Window Rock; sisters, Elizabeth Clah, Loretta Towne, Abby Butler, Marie Shaw, all of Many Farms; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Slivers was preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Begay; husband, Wilford Slivers Sr.; daughter, Pearlene Burbank.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Sliver residence, following services. The family will meet at Sliver home 6 p.m., Jan. 9.
