Vincent Chato Sr.

GALLUP — Funeral services for Vincent Leonard Chato Sr., 66, will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, at St. Francis Catholic Chruch. Father Jerry Steinmetz, O.F.M., will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. March 6 at St. Francis Church and a rosary will be recited at 12 p.m. March 6 at St. Francis Church.

Chato died Wednesday, Feb. 28, in Gallup. He was born July 20, 1940 in Tohatchi.

Chato served as a Marine Sergeant with Co. D., 1st BN, 28th Marines and 5th Marines. He was a retired employee of the City of Gallup.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Chato of Gallup; sons, Vinson L. Chato of Yuma, Ariz., Vincent L. Chato Jr. of Gallup and Vic I. Chato of Tse Bonito; daughter, Sabrina A. Chato of Gallup; sisters, Jeanette Thomas of Tohatchi, Sallie C. Johnny of Fort Defiance, Sadie C. Hardy of Blackhat and Ella Begay of Albuquerque; eight grandchildren.

Chato was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Nededbah Chato; brothers, Melvin, Edgar, John and Everett; sisters, Mary and Monica.

Pallbearers will be Vinson Chato, Vincent Chato Jr., Vic Chato, Peterson Willie, Vincent Willie and David Thomas.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallup Community Service Center following burial.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.


Nicholas Bowman

GALLUP — Services for Nicholas Urias-Bowman, 5, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, at St. Francis Church. Reverned Gerald Steinmetz, O.F.M., will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, March 5, at Rollie Mortuary.

Bowman died Mar. 2 in Denver, Colo. He was born July 8, 2001 in Gallup.

Survivors include parents, Eliseo Urias and Hilda Bowman, both of Gallup; brother, Eric Urias of Gallup; grandparents, Richard Bowman and Virginia Bowman, both of Mexican Springs, Irene Urias and Merced Urias, both of Portales, N.M.

Pallbearers will be Robert Goldsten, Jay B. Muskett, Vincent Muskett, Jay Barton, Eric Urias and Armondo Urias.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Joshua Galavis

GALLUP — Services for Joshua Elias Galavis, 0, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, at Rollie Mortuary. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gallup.

Galavis died Friday, March 2, in Gallup. He was born March 2, in Gallup.

Survivors include parents, Carmen Elias Galavis and Cheryl Lynn Smith, both of Gallup; brothers, Kalani Charley and Anthony James, both of Gallup; sister, Kayla James of Gallup; great-grandmother, Marie Smith, of Twin Lakes, N.M.; grandmothers, Julie Barrera of Twin Lakes and Bertha A. Galavis of Gamerco, grandfather, Daniel E. Galavis of Gamerco.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Alfred Becenti

NASCHITTI — Services for Alfred H. Becenti, 56, will be 10 a.m. today, March 5 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tohatchi. Sherman Manuelito will officiate. Burial will follow at Naschitti Community Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Mar. 4 at Rollie Palm Chapel.

Becenti died Feb. 28 in Gallup. He was born May 18, 1950 in Crownpoint into the Towering House People Clan for the Sleeping Rock People Clan.

Becenti attended Window Rock High School and Haskell Indian Junior College in Lawrence, Kan. He was employed as a journeyman painter with Fort Defiance, BIA Facility Management and Gallup IHS Facility Management. He received numerous awards for horseracing and was a former member of the AIRCA in team roping, calf roping and ranching.

Survivors include wife, Carmen J. Hebert of Naschitti; daughters, Latonia Becenti and Leticia Becenti, both of Window Rock; brothers, Freddie Becenti, Jonah Becenti, both of Naschitti, Mike Becenti of Gallup, James Becenti of Lukachukai; sisters, Alta E. Peshlakai, Ilene Becenti, both of Naschitti, Mabel Holyan of Yahtahey, Edith Loretto of Gallup, Maebah Morris of Tohatchi, Eva Yazzie of Gallup and one grandchild.

Becenti was preceded in death by his mother Sarah N. Becenti; father Herman Becenti; brothers Bahe, Harrison, John, Frank and Ernest Becenti.

Pallbearers will be Donovan Becenti, Ivan Becenti, Brian Loretto, Virgil Loretto, Ronald Lucero, Darrell L. Morris, Patrick E. Yazzie and Anders Perry.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Naschitti Chapter House following services.

Velva Oellerick

GALLUP — Services for Velva I. Oellerick, 87, will be announced at a later date.

Viewing will be 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 6, at Rollie Mortuary.

Oellerick died Saturday, March 3, in Gallup. She was born May 20, 1919 in Harrisburg, Mo.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Carlos Lucero

CUBERO, N.M. — Services for Carlos Gene Lucero, 69, will be announced at a later date.

Lucero died Friday, March 2, in Cubero. He was born April 21, 1937 in San Antonito, N.M.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
