Elizabeth Davis
OLD VALLEY, Ariz. — Services for Elizabeth Davis, 89, will be 9 a.m., Tuesday, July 21, at Chinle Catholic Church, Chinle. Burial will be in community cemetery, Chinle. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m., July 21, at Chinle Catholic church.
Davis died July 14, 2009, in Scottsdale. She was born March 7, 1920, in Coyote Springs, into the Zuni People Clan for the Salt People Clan.
Davis worked as a head cook at Chinle Senior Citizen center and was a foster grandparent. She enjoyed weaving, singing, dancing, planting and raising livestock. Davis was the lead singer for the Chinle Valley Singers.
Survivors include her sons, Raymond Davis of Valley Store, Ernest Davis of Phoenix, Gary Davis of Valley Store; daughters, Alice Carroll of Chinle, Elsie Deswood of Many Farms, Geraldine Sedberry of Daly City, Calif., Linda Davis of Crystal, Anita Davis of Valley Store, Esther Davis of Daly City, Calif.; sisters, Adelle Mitchell of Valley Store, Alta Begay of Valley Store; 40 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gary Davis, Darrell Davis, Garrick Davis, Ronald Begay, Dempsey Deswood, Darren Deswood.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Chinle Catholic Hall, following services.
Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Candelaria Martinez
GALLUP — Services are pending for Candelaria “Lala” Martinez, 72.
Martinez died Friday, July 17, 2009, in Gallup. She was born Dec. 21, 1936, in San Miguel.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
