Masked pair rob Arby’s
Employees forced into bathroom at knife point

GALLUP — A man and woman wearing masks robbed a local fast-food restaurant’s employees at knife point and forced them into the businesses bathroom late Sunday.

The man and woman wore bandannas to cover their faces as they robbed the Arby’s restaurant, 840 U.S. Highway 491, at about 10 p.m., Sgt. Erin Toadlena-Pablo, a spokeswoman for the Gallup Police Department, said.

The restaurant’s employees were forced into the business bathroom before the pair fled the location with an undisclosed amount of money. No injuries were reported.

Gallup police officers and detectives were called to the scene moments after the robbery, but they were not immediately able to locate the suspects who were described as either Native American or Hispanic. No additional information was released about the suspects’ clothing or physical features.

Toadlena-Pablo said the business had no security cameras installed to capture the robbery on tape.

Other calls
Toadlena-Pablo said the agency responded to “back-to-back calls” for assistance throughout the weekend but were unable to immediately report to minor calls of intoxicated individuals because of a lack of manpower.

McKinley County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian on Sunday.

Officers were dispatched to the old New Mexico State Police barracks, on East U.S. Highway 66, in reference to a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle.

The individual was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No information was available about the pedestrian’s condition as of 10 a.m. A police report about the incident was not immediately available.

Anyone with information about the robbery, is asked to call CrimeStoppers at (505) 722-6161. A reward of up to $1,000 is available to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of a suspect in the case.
