Jo Nell Waggoner

TEMPLE, Texas — Services for Jo Nell Tipton Waggoner, 55, were Aug. 1 at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel in Menard, Texas. Shaun Shunk officiated. Burial followed at Rest Haven Cemetery.

Waggoner died July 25, 2007 in Temple, Texas. She was born March 24, 1952 in Odessa, Texas.

Waggoner attended Gallup Junior High School and graduated from Gallup High School. She helped develop, raise, and breed Black Boer Goats, some of the first in the U.S. Her father was a building contractor who built several homes in Gallup and her mother worked at the Vandenbosch clinic.

Survivors include her husband Danny Waggoner of Menard, Texas; parents, Joe B. and Dorothy Nell Tipton of Menard, Texas; brother, Bud Tipton of Rockport, Texas.


Wanda Smith

GALLUP — Memorial services for Wanda B. Smith, 90, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23 at Lighthouse International, 808 E. 66 Ave. Asst. Pastor Bill Overton will officiate. Private disposition will be at a later date.

Smith died Aug. 19 in Gallup. She was born Nov. 29, 1916.

Smith attended Gallup High School. She participated in Women’s Golf Association, UFW Women’s Auxilary, Women’s Bowling Association, Order of the Easter Star, Daughters of the Nile, Demolay and Rainbow Mom, and a Girl Scout Leader. Smith loved fishing, latch hooking, and playing cards.

Survivors include her daughters, Judy Jaramillo and Joan Starkovich both of Gallup; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Smith; son Johnny Smith; parents, Charles and Harriet Hamilton; brother, Elton Hamilton; and sister, Ranita Dukart.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Starkovich, Steven Starkovich, Paul Starkovich, Eddy Jaramillo, Dowana Starkovich and Ernie Jaramillo.

The family will receive relatives and friends at 709 E. Green St.

Donations may be made to Shriners Crippled Children’s Hospital, UNM Carrie Tingley Hospital, 1127 University Blvd. N.E. Albuquerque, N.M. 87102.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.


Manuel Jaramillo

GRANTS — Funeral Mass for Manuel Jaramillo, 63, will be at 9:30 a.m. today, Aug. 22 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. The Very Rev. Alberto Avella officiated. Burial was at Grants Memorial Park.

Jaramillo died Aug. 19, 2007. He was born June 6, 1944 in Grants.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Lee Jaramillo of Grants; daughters, Judy Montano of Grants and Tina Jaramillo of Grants; sister, Charlotte Jaramillo; brothers, Juan Jaramillo, Albert Jaramillo, Abe Jaramillo, Bernie Jaramillo, and LeRoy Jaramillo.

Jaramillo was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Agapito Jaramillo and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bert Montano, Don Jaramillo, Mark Montano, Steven Jaramillo, Anthony Jaramillo, and Samuel Herrera.


Ernest Greene

Services for Ernest Greene, 88, will be announced at a later date.

Greene died Aug. 18, 2007 in Gallup. He was born Feb. 16, 1919 in New Mexico.
