Pit
bull attacks resident Sends local man to the hospital By Leslie Wood Staff Writer GALLUP A local man is being treated at Rehoboth McKinley Christian Hospital this morning for injuries he sustained when being attacked by a pit bull. He is in stable condition, according to an animal control officer. Gallup police officers and animal control employees chased the dog along Ninth Street and through the parking lot of The Gallup Independent early this morning. Officials reportedly obtained permission to shoot the dog, if it continued to evade officers; however, animal control offices were able to capture the animal without further incident. The dog reportedly lives in a residence on Wilson Avenue. The injured man is expected to be released from the emergency room by late morning. It was not immediately known if the dog's owners will face any criminal charges or whether they will be cited for the incident. |
