LAGUNA — The Dancing Eagle Casino is preparing for the Outdoor Music Festival this Saturday. The live music competition that will involve eight local bands will start at 1 p.m. and will run until 8 p.m.

This is the first year of the Outdoor Music Festival at the Dancing Eagle Casino, and they have teamed up with the Grammy Award winning Santa Fe Center Studios to host the free family entertainment event. The Outdoor Music Festival will feature live music from headliner Native Roots and local artists.

The local artists will be competing for a grand prize of $1,500 in studio time at Santa Fe Center Studios, as well as a contract to play at the Dancing Eagle Casino, one of the premier entertainment venues in the area.

"The Santa Fe Studios in Albuquerque are world class," Dancing Eagle Marketing Manager Dominic Orozco said. "They won the 2006 Grammy award for best production of a Native American CD by the group Black Eagle called 'Flying Free' that was engineered by Doug Geist, and the studio also won it for the best Native American music album of the year. They are a world class group."

The bands that come in second and in third place will also receive contracts to play at the Dancing Eagle Casino as a part of the weekend entertainment.
